TVA subcontractor facing federal charges of "falsifying information"

The U.S. Attorney's Office has charged a 31-year-old Hixson man with lying about work he performed for the Tennessee Valley Authority's Watts Bar Nuclear Plant, where Unit is under construction.

Federal officials announced the charges Thursday following an indictment released Tuesday.

Matthew David Correll faces two counts of falsifying information. He pleaded not guilty in a Hamilton County federal courtroom on Thursday morning. He faces a maximum of five years for each charge if convicted.

Officials say Correll liked about measurements he took of power cables that would have been used in the nuclear power-making process.

Officials are not saying how he allegedly falsified the information or what his motive might have been.
