Amanda Knox seeks to ban Meredith Kercher murder film
Source: BBC News 24 March 2011 Last updated at 20:43

Jailed US student Amanda Knox has called a film dramatising the murder of her British roommate "an invasion of my life".

Knox, 23, is serving a 26-year sentence for the killing of Meredith Kercher, 21, from Surrey.

The film has been aired on the US-based Lifetime TV channel, but Knox is trying to prevent its wider circulation.

Her lawyers say it could harm her appeal against conviction for Miss Kercher's murder in 2007 in Italy.

1. I continue to believe in Amanda's innocence.
She really doesn't strike me as a murderer and I am not convinced of the evidence against her. I know some on DU feel very strongly on the other side but I just don't understand the evidence against her...

2. She may be guilty or innocent...
Regardless, movies aren't meant to depict history properly. They are meant to entertain. In truth, even if this movie was to paint a picture of her innocence, it wouldn't be any more accurate or inaccurate. It's a movie.

5. Sure. it's only a movie....
... but rightly or wrongly, people form opinions based on what they view.

7. I can understand that...
But, I think that's a problem that people have to deal with. Not movie/production companies.

the fact that she lived with this roommate for a short time only a month is not a reason to murder. And she had dated this boyfriend for 6 days and that is long enough to get him to kill her roommate? She was held by the police in a country she barely knew the language and was subjected to a couple of days of interrogation. There were several lies about the evidence in the press. Not to mention that there were identified bloody foot prints of the killer in the apt but the detectives failed that part of the investigation.

and the account of the murder and subsequent trial. I believe she laid out a good defense for her against the police evidence and the book that was written.

The fact that a judge granted an appeal shows that there is evidence in her favor against the conviction.

6. You could say that killing somebody is an invasion of their life.
I think she was responsible for Meredith Kercher's death. :(
