No threat from Japanese radiation spread across US
Source: AP

By RANDOLPH E. SCHMID

WASHINGTON (AP) - Traces of radioactive material from the endangered Japanese nuclear plant are being detected from coast to coast in the United States and in Iceland, but amounts continue to be far below levels that would cause health problems.

The development of super-sensitive equipment to detect radiation is both a blessing and a curse, allowing scientists to monitor materials released in nuclear accidents, but also causing unnecessary worry, said Kathryn Higley, director of the nuclear engineering and radiation health physics at Oregon State University.

Traces of radioactive cesium and iodine are being reported from Nevada to Vermont, South Carolina to Massachusetts, thanks to equipment that Higley says can detect material "many orders of magnitude below what would be hazardous."

The traces of radiation outside of Japan are "absolutely of no concern," added Ahmed Hassanein, head of nuclear engineering at the Purdue School of Nuclear Engineering.

11. I might have to go find the herb this evening.
Between the BS I saw in the theater of political speechifying, and the news out of Japan, I think it is time for some Janis, or possibly some Humble Pie.

16. good idea.
since the national cancer society announced last week that they believed that cannabis has anti-tumor qualities. i think we should all be given some to fight the effects of the nuclear cloud.

5. "absolutely of no concern,"
....wasn't someone saying a week and a half ago that radiation wouldn't/couldn't make it across the Pacific?

"many orders of magnitude below what would be hazardous."

....can I be certain that their bullshit isn't many orders of magnitude above what would be hazardous?

6. What happens when traces of longer-lived isotopes than I131 keep coming and
keep coming and keep coming, eh, geniuses?

The situation is getting worse the longer it goes on. At some point it WILL be a danger, and THEN everybody will get all het up and want to bury that plant. But the harm will have already been done.

ENTOMB IT NOW. ALL 6 REACTORS.

7. I THINK they can't do that until they -- fill in the blank -- I'm not sure
why I think that but don't they have to essentially get them 'ready' for entombment and they're unable to do that at this point?

I could be wrong, and if I am, what the fuck are they waiting for?

8. Nuke industry BS is many orders of magnitude above what would be hazardous...
Thank you, Unkachuck! Had to repeat it! And now for something completely different...

***NO THREAT***NO THREAT***NO THREAT*** from Japanese radiation spread across US

--THE ONLY THREAT IS FROM INFORMATION, WHICH IS A CURSE--

WASHINGTON (AP) - (itty bitty bitty bitty) Traces of radioactive material from (**SIX** TOTALLY FUCKED, NOT JUST) endangered Japanese nuclear plant(S) are being detected from coast to coast in the United States and in Iceland, BUT amounts continue to be ***FAR BELOW FAR BELOW FAR BELOW*** levels that would cause health problems (ANY TIME SOON).

The development of super-sensitive equipment to detect radiation is both a blessing and a curse, DISALLOWING NUKE INDUSTRY FLAKS TO LIE ABOUT materials released in nuclear accidents, but also causing UNNECESSARY WORRY, said Kathryn Higley, director of the nuclear propaganda and covering up radiation health risks at Oregon State University.

Traces of radioactive cesium and iodine are being reported from Nevada to Vermont, South Carolina to Massachusetts, thanks to equipment that Higley says can detect material "many orders of magnitude below what would be hazardous."

"CURSES ON THAT EQUIPMENT!" she added.

The TRACES of radiation outside of Japan are "***absolutely of no concern***," screamed Ahmed Hassanein, head of nuclear lying at the Purdue School of Nuclear Lying.

9. This Also Means Our Ability to Prevent Nukes from being Smuggled In is Fucked Too, Doesn't It?
We put in those detectors to prevent anyone from smuggling in a :nuke:
If they are going off all the time, they are useless.

Remember that during first month of BP disaster they spent $75 million on PR alone!!

But fighting against paying for the health costs for those in Gulf who need help!!

And any truth about to what they've done to the Gulf, itself, and animal-life in and

near it!!
