Japan right-winger crashes through nuclear plant gates
Source: AsiaOne

TOKYO - A man driving what appeared to be a right-wing propaganda loudspeaker truck on Thursday crashed his vehicle through the gates of a Japanese nuclear plant and was arrested by police, officials said.

The man first drove to Japan's disaster-struck Fukushima Daiichi (No. 1) plant, was turned back, and then rammed the vehicle through the gates of its sister plant, Fukushima Daini (No. 2), in the early afternoon.

The driver fled after spending about 10 minutes inside the Daini plant, said a spokesman for the agency, Yuichi Sato.

Police tracked him down and detained him about two hours later, Sato told AFP. "His identity, motive and affiliation are not immediately clear," he said.

4. It was apparently a
propaganda loudspeaker truck. I suppose if he was yammering a bunch of RW lunacy through the loudspeaker that could be the evidence they used.

14. Those propaganda trucks are well known
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uyoku_dantai

Uyoku dantai are Japanese nationalist right-wing groups.

In 1996, the National Police Agency estimated that there are over 1000 right wing groups in Japan with about 100,000 members in total. . . .

Uyoku dantai are well known for their highly visible propaganda vehicles, known as gaisensha--converted vans, trucks and buses fitted with loudspeakers and prominently marked with the name of the group and propaganda slogans. The vehicles are usually black, khaki or olive drab, and are decorated with the Imperial Seal, the flag of Japan and the Japanese military flag. They are primarily used to stage protests outside organizations such as the Chinese, Korean or Russian embassies, Chongryon facilities and media organizations, where propaganda (both taped and live) is broadcast through their loudspeakers. They can sometimes be seen driving around cities or parked in busy shopping areas, broadcasting propaganda, military music or Kimigayo, the national anthem.

15. Thanks for the link, never imagined that much energy going into that there.
Appears there are many diverse groups under that heading.

They probably blame the USA for selling those reactors.

And I wouldn't blame them.

25. The nerve gas attacks were by the Aum Shinrikyo
a religious cult centered around cult leader Asahara Shoko. Kind of like the Japanese version of the Manson Family, except that its membership included chemical engineers who concocted all sorts of nasty chemicals.

10. Radiation sounds a lot like global warming - doesn't it?
Edited on Thu Mar-31-11 02:52 PM by kenny blankenship
And who tells you global warming is bad for you? Liberals. Same with radiation. Ooh, oh, oh don't get the nuclear radiation on you, the liberals always cry. They don't even know how to say nuculur. You know why liberals don't want you near any radiation, don't you? Because radiation makes conservatives stronger. Nuculur weapons are the strongest, and the strongest force must come from God, if you think about it it's so simple. That's why True Patriots and Real Americans have NOTHING to fear from radiation. Liberals are the ones who talk about how it's bad because it's bad for them, like Samsonite is to Superman. But for conservatives radiation just enlarges our power to confound liberals and their jackass Keynesian, heliocentric, Darwinian theories with logic and prayer. Radiation equals GOOD.

26. According to Japanese new sources
Edited on Sat Apr-02-11 01:35 AM by Art_from_Ark
the driver of the gaisensha was a 25-year-old male whose address was listed as the Kabuki-cho district of Shinjuku, Tokyo. Kabuki-cho is an adult entertainment district and is not a place where someone is born and raised. Thus, in all likelihood, he is from outside the area. It could very well be that he has family in the Fukushima area and is really ticked off because of all the local problems the nuclear accident is causing. It could also be that he is ticked off at the power plants because of the water scare in Tokyo.

As for his "right-wing" truck, his merely driving it is not necessarily indicative of him being a member of a right-wing group. Given that these gaisensha are often modified buses or other large vehicles, he could conceivably have borrowed it from someone else in order to have a vehicle that was large enough to crash through a gate.
