California Assembly OKs increased renewable energy requirement

The mandate, now headed for governor's desk, would require utilities to increase renewable energy sources to 33% by 2020.

1. I would have prefered a Tittle 24 like approach
Mandate all new commercial construction to incorporate 10% of their consumption be generated by on-site renewable sources

3. No reason we can't do that, TOO. We need to do EVERYTHING we can,
not just some of the things we can.

2. CA gets A LOT of its energy from other states.
does this apply to out of state utilities, or just those producing within the state?

4. I assume it means that if you want to sell electricity in CA to Californians,
that energy better meet the renewables criteria for source. Doesn't matter where it comes from geographically.

We act like DEMOCRATS around these parts, not Republicans, lol. We're not so into greenwashing.

5. I was wondering because out of state providers
could decide the added cost isn't worth it and pull out of the CA market, leaving CA with a shortage.
