Edited on Tue Apr-05-11 01:59 PM by Turborama
Source: Al Jazeera English

Cote d'Ivoire's Laurent Gbagbo is reported to have surrendered and now wants protection, according to a United Nations internal document seen by Reuters news agency.

"...President Gbagbo has also surrendered and has asked UNOCI's protection," the document to UN staff said.

Gbagbo was negotiating his departure following a fierce assault by forces loyal to his presidential rival backed by U.N. and French helicopter air strikes.

More details soon.

4. Well, one of his representatives
was arguing on Al Jazeera a minute ago, that he has not - and that France is responsible for all of the killings in the country.

And so it goes, with these people who think they are entitled to own a country.

5. What could be more protective than detention at the Hague?
And a nice, cozy little trial should liven things up for him.

6. Why do this dictators hang onto power?
Each one of them could step down peacefully and still live like kings off all the wealth they have 'earned' during their time in power. Yet they choose to fight putting their comfortable futures on the line. No sorrow if he's not taken alive, he had his chance.
