Maldives sends 600,000 cans of tuna (to Japan)

The Maldives has offered 600,000 cans of tuna, its specialty product, for earthquake and tsunami victims, Japanese government officials said.

The Maldivian government had initially planned to provide around 80,000 cans of tuna, a delicacy chiefly exported to Europe and Southeast Asia, but the amount was increased after support by the private sector, the officials said.

by global warming.

Thanks for the thread, AsahinaKimi.

5. Most of the canned tuna sold in Japan
comes in cans that are opened by pulling up on a ring-- no can opener required. Since Japan provided support for the Maldives canning industry, it is likely that the Japanese introduced or enhanced pull-top technology for the Maldives.
