Just a few minutes ago, there was a Magnitude 6.3 earthquake off the coast of Chiba Prefecture, Japan. The earthquake, which was a 5- on the Japanese seismic intensity scale in Chiba, caused buildings to sway for more than a minute in Tokyo. Those damn earthquakes just seem to keep coming. At least this one was relatively far from Fukushima and the Daiichi complex.

4. Same here
Even the ones who don't live in devastated areas have got to be tired of the constant shaking and wondering when the next big one will hit.

6. I've Been Thinking about Them Everyday
what they are going through, and because of the ever present danger of getting cancer from radiation. Good people need to take charge to keep ourselves safe.

8. Not a 7 this time, "just" a 6.3
I was in a Tokyo office building at the time. It was swaying like a boat for more than a minute.

11. OK, I see what you mean now
Number 7 was a long time ago. We're probably working on Number 62 now, according to Yahoo Japan. And that's just in the past 17 hours.

16. How extensive was the damage from Northridge?
I remember seeing a picture of a collapsed overpass, but I don't know much beyond that about the damage.
Did you have a lot of aftershocks after that?

18. There was a fair Amount of damage but few aftershocks
A friend of mine who lived near the epicenter said it felt like a giant was shaking his house. A very angry giant.

Check Wikipedia for details on the northridge quake.

9. I heard Japan has 55 reactors (?) not sure what kind because I know
little about nuclear power plants. California has two small ones. The radiation has already been let loose and is on it's way to further damage. I've never been so scared as I am now. I can only ONLY imagine living in Japan with a family, a couple of pets, and probably being lied to about the severity of this horrible severe catastrophe.

17. Is the Southwestern end of Japan better right now, or likely to remain so?
Edited on Tue Apr-12-11 02:00 AM by jtuck004
Or if one decides to leave, how do they find a place like Japan? I would find it hard to move here
based on what I have seen about life in Japan. Respect for others seems rampant over there. Rampant
I tell you. The tv anchors bow to you before they speak - I felt like bowing back.

Even the men have women's voices (ok, that last part is the translators on NHK, but still)...).

19. That's Bonobo's turf
It sounds like he is in one of a very favorable location in Japan.

And it does sound kind of funny to see a man speaking but hear a woman's voice doing the talking.
