Obama Tells Congress He's Keeping His Czars
Source: Huffington Post

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama had a message for Congress Friday: his so-called "czars" aren't going anywhere.

The budget bill that passed Congress Thursday also included a provision to defund a number of White House czars -- the high-level presidential appointees whose ranks have swelled in recent decades as a means of skirting Senate confirmation hearings.

There is a long history of complaints about czars by whichever party does not occupy the White House at the time, but the advisers have become a particular target of the right wing during the Obama adminisitration, and the 11th-hour budget deal eliminated his health care, climate, urban affairs and auto-industry czars.

But on Friday night, Obama declared that he intends to ignore that part of the budget legislation, issuing a relatively rare "signing statement" after he inked the budget deal in which he argued that the legislative effort to eliminate those positions was an unconstitutional infringement on the executive branch.

Every President since Nixon has had 'Czars.' It's only a issue when we have a Black President.

2. Oh, s#$%! Thank you, George Bush.
All that autocratic, defiant BS that weasel pulled is now precedent, never dismantled by the Republican courts or Congress.

So President Obama has gamed the table to make it the GOP pay for it now, and if they want to walk it back, they'll have to do it themselves--exactly as the Democrats in Congress could not all those dark years in the double-aughts.

Well played again, Mr. President.

4. Obama's signing statements that he pledged not to use are as
much of concern. That should be the headline.

9. He gave them rope enough, long enough........and now, the public see him as reasonable....
while the fools called the opposition; not so much.

He took the long view, and perhaps it might just pay off.
