Gabrielle Giffords Supporters Donate $358,000 To Her Re-Election Campaign
Source: AP

WASHINGTON -- Donors from around the country have donated about $358,000 to the re-election campaign of Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in the event she attempts to seek political office again.

Giffords was critically wounded by a gunshot to the head in January during a shooting rampage in Tucson. She has been undergoing extensive therapy in Houston and it's unknown whether she'll be able to resume her duties or seek elective office again.

But supporters want to be ready just in case. Colleagues organized a fundraiser on her behalf in March.

Her campaign's fundraising report shows that political action committees generated about two-thirds of the donations during the first quarter of 2011. The other third came from individuals, many from the Tucson area.

she's been the best republican money can buy...

It's not so great being in her district...

She's never met a war toy she couldn't vote for...

She was secular on Health Care; dismissed Medicare for All out of hand and voted BOTH ways on Obama's bill...

She's pro-corporate to the core, loved the bail-out and the banksters...

3. I can't tell you how frustrating it is

to NOT have a representative in Congress...

Even one as egregiously blue-dog, pro-war, pro-corporate death culture as Gabby...

However, not to worry...

Thanks to our area losing population in the census, our bat-shit crazy legislature will gerrymander her district so that only a republican can win...

We're just hoping that instead of the line being 3 blocks too far south of us and we have to suffer being in Gabby's district that reapportionment will move the line north and include us in Grijalva's!

5. Maybe they should concentrate on finding a credible candidate
I think it's wonderful she is making good progress but seriously? The woman has had a traumatic brain injury. It will be a miracle that she will be able to function as a wife and mother when all is said and done.

Her husband would be a shoo-in.

6. I suspect you're right
One so wants to believe that she can make a full recovery - and she may - but, given the nature and severity of her injury, you have to assume it's going to be many years, if ever, that's she's capable of operating at that level again. Until that day comes, if it ever comes, she deserves to be celebrated for the victories she's achieving in recovery, not looked to as a champion to cure the ailments of the country, that's too much to lay on her shoulders.
