Wis. Dems To File Recall Signatures Against A Fifth Republican State Senator
Source: TPM

The state Dems told Sargeant that they collected approximately 30,000 signatures to trigger a new election against Darling, providing a very large buffer above the 20,343 minimum signatures required -- and presumably a whole lot of votes on tap in a recall election, too.

Darling holds special significance in the battle over Walker's recently passed (and currently litigated) legislation -- she is the Senate co-chair of the legislature's Joint Finance Committee, which shepherded the bill through its first stages. As such, her increased public profile would make her a particular lightning rod in the recall campaigns.

2. I hear they are just going to tie up the petitions in court by challenging signatures.
I hear from my relatives in Wisconsin the GOP plan is to challenge the heck out of the signatures and just tie them up in court hearings and challenges and they are stockpiling money to pay the attorneys.

3. Yes, and that's been expected,
The recall campaigns are ready for that; each campaign has more signatures than needed.
Money has been raised to offset the expected legal issues.

All those folks who told me Darling wasn't their Darlin added up!

11. The petition doesn't get tossed unless it doesn't have enough
valid signatures. Not just because a few a not valid. You better educate your relatives in Wisconsin.

21. If they find a number of signatures that the actual people claim were not theirs or misrepresented..
That gets extrapolated against the total. If there are 15,000 signatures and in a sampling of 100, 20 signatures claim it is not their signature or that it was misrepresented to them...viola...20% of the 15,000 are disallowed. Sorry, them's the rules.

12. No that's not true. While it's common for signatures to be challenged,
the challenger has to list a reason. Out of several thousand, only a handful will be thrown out. Democrats are mobilized to challenge the signatures rapublicans are filing against Wirch. Many will be invalidated in that recall because the quality of the collection is poor.

25. Looks like the petition to recall Wirch hasn't been filed (yet)
The only democratic senator whose had a recall petition filed (so far) is Dave Hansen of Green Bay:

She wouldn't be doing that without Walker's knowledge and approval, though.

She's an ALEC member, too. The other co-chair of the Joint Finance Committee is ALEC state chairman for Wisconsin, Robin Vos.

23. She's also dumb as nails
I saw her in the Crandon Mine fight in the 90s. She didn't understand a word of the geology, and had to keep getting up to talk to her industry handlers for guidance. Her public questions were simply inane.

10. K&R. Why did TPM start it off with "Wisconsin Democrats are pulling the trigger on a fifth recall"
That seems like a bizarre and out of place way to start your article.

35. I've read that 3 Dem. senators have been recalled, but the way the GOP
did this was through illusive questions. Their whole foundation is built
on deceit and lies. They couldn't survive otherwise. Why do Dems. let them
get away with it?
