Tornado Warnings Issued for Parts of New Jersey
Source: NBC

Tornado warnings were issued for parts of New Jersey and heavy downpours could drench parts of New Jersey and New York as a cold front moves across the region on Thursday.

The National Weather Service's storm prediction center issued a tornado warning for Hunterdon, Morris, Sussex and Warren counties until 11:45 a.m. The weather service also has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for western and southwest New Jersey, the five boroughs of New York City, Westchester, Rockland and Nassau counties.

In New Jersey, the National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 4 p.m. for every county except Cape May County. Forecasters say wind gusts up to 70 mph, hail and lightning are possible.

1. Poor Jersey. As if Christie, Jersey Shore, Jerseylicious and Real Housewives of New Jersey
weren't enough for one state to endure.

Kidding aside, stay safe everyone.

Urban renewal has come at last!

How did the storm find its way there?

Stay safe, guys.

7. Biblical proportions?
Christie is more of the Titanic Proportions crowd.

Sorry for the gratuitous weight reference, it was being asked for :-) In truth, of course, his weight doesn't matter. He is another member of the repig "Dismantle America" squad.

8. Chris Christie is a plague of larger than Biblical proportions
His big, fat ass alone exceeds Biblical proportions.

BTW, New Jersey's bond rating was just downgraded a full step by Moody's. The second downgrade since this corrupt fraud took office.

Moody's cuts N.J. bond rating by one notch, citing slow economic recovery, retirement costs

6. In all seriousness, tornado was spotted (not on the ground) in Chester, about 11 miles west of
Morristown.

Headed north-east.

The warning has been extended to 12:15 last I checked.

I grew up in Michigan, so tornado warnings were more common there and I know the drill, but in NJ, where I live now, there isn't the awareness of how to respond to a warning.

13. Well if you must know ...
None of these counties are near the GSP or the Turnpike. So there's really no exit to speak of.

The closest would probably be 145 off the GSP. From there you can take 280 to 80 and into the northwest counties.

Or were you being facetious?

11. Also in NJ across the river (Hudson County)
It seems to have gotten a bit darker out there, but that could be my imagination.

Be safe, everyone!

18. False alarm in our area.
We got some rain after 11:30 AM, but nothing major happened and it cleared by the end of the work day.

:-)

14. I'm in Manhattan, we had this strange flash thunder/lightning
storm about 9:30 this am, and then it went away just as quickly. I just went out for lunch and the wind almost picked me up off the ground. I've never experienced a tornado before, I wonder what we'd do if it happened. Evacuating an island in a tornado isn't somthing that is going to happen quickly.

Luckily nothing much happened and it was all gone by late afternoon.

17. No -- Global Warming is about HEAT -- heating the atmosphere creates chaotic weather ....
The earth systems are being changed by Global Warming --

and there was a 50 year gap in our feeling the effects of our activities so

roughly we're now up to about 1960 --

The call to W Bush to change the original term from Global Warming to "climate change"

came from the GOP propagandist, Frank Luntz. Burning of fossil fuels crated this

disaster -- and has nothing to do with anything natural happening.

Btw, GW will not only involve increasing numbers of and severity of floods/droughts,

cyclones, tornadoes, hurricanes -- but also increasing numbers of earthquakes and

increasing severity of earthquakes --

Earthquakes, in turn, generate volcanic activity.

Good luck to us all!!
