Delta Rolls Out Platinum Upgrades For Top Republicans
Source: WSB TV, Atlanta

ATLANTA -- A Whistleblower 2 investigation has found that Delta Air Lines gave some of Georgia's most powerful political figures campaign contributions that lesser flyers would love to have -- upgrades to platinum or gold frequent flyer status.

Channel 2's Richard Belcher looked into whether Delta grossly undervalued the contributions. Channel 2 consumer advisor Clark Howard said a platinum upgrade is worth $10-15,000 a year, which is far more than Delta's valuation.

Lt. Governor Casey Cagle and five top legislators were on the receiving end for either platinum or gold upgrades, plus one legislator who's no longer in office. “Platinum medallion! No, way!” said Howard.

All of the top political figures enjoying the benefits from Delta are Republicans.

3. And they wonder why...
Normal, drama hating people do not fly. The way aviation is in 2011, the Republican party is the primary object of their flying public. It should not be that way, but it is. Especially with booking and baggage fees that are truly unwanted. I cannot stand to be nickled, dimed, and quartered. I would expect US Airways, the dominant airline locally, to be doing the same with the banker crowd and some republicans. Thank god for Beverly Perdue or NC would be totally unlivable and Haleyized!

8. If I were an airline CEO, I would be far more favorable to democrats.
The oil lobby is infinitely more powerful than the airline lobby. Republicans fellate the oil companies (by far, their first priority), which means airlines will lose with high oil prices. The democrats are more likely to push back at oil companies...though only by a little bit.

10. Huh. Delta gave me a $50 voucher for a cancelled flight and losing my luggage for 3 hours so that I
had to cool my heals waiting to make the 10 hour drive home in a rental car. All because they had no system for handling connecting flight luggage in a situation where the connecting flight is cancelled. Their "system" was to pile all of the luggage up on a ramp with luggage from dozens of other cancelled flights instead of routing it into the terminal where all of the stranded passengers were.

11. Anderson and his fellow NWA management types...
have been sticking their snouts into all kinds of political stuff, in GA and MN especially.

It smells.

And, whenever there is something that the "company" doesn't like, they slap up stuff on the company's internal webpages, "asking" employees to CONTACT your representatives!

...it all makes me sick.

15. A bunch of old NWA execs work for my company
CEO, CFO, and a couple of other non-C note employees. They always talk about how nice it is to not be working for them anymore. Guess I know why, and I know why they took big pay cuts to come to my company.
