CIA director doesn't recall trip to Texas in 2001


WASHINGTON, April 14 (Reuters) - CIA Director George Tenet insisted he had no contact with the president who was vacationing in Texas during the month before the Sept. 11 attacks. But he was mistaken.

A CIA spokesman later said Tenet had in fact gone to Texas during August of that year to brief President George W. Bush.

"I didn't see the president. I was not in briefings with him during this time. He was on vacation. I was here," Tenet told the commission investigating the attacks on Wednesday....

The CIA spokesman said Tenet had flown to Texas on Aug. 17, 2001, to brief the president.

Now granted, there is no where that I can find, where anyone of them ever said Tenet briefed the pResident on August 6th, but they certainly implied that he did many times. Condi testified that Tenet met with the pResident on a daily basis? A daily basis, except for the entire month of August, 2001 and every other day that the pResident wasn't available?

Now Tenet can't remember if he had to go to Crawford Tx in the middle of friggen August, to a pig farm? And he's running the CIA? Toto, this isn't Kansas any more?

He comes across as snide and arrogant. His head should roll and the only reason it won't is because he's covering for Dubya and Dubya knows it.
Even though 9-11 is a huge security screw up, no heads are rolling because our top officials are afraid of each other. They know if one of them goes down, he or she will finger the rest of them. So they all commit a conspiracy of silence. What a bunch of jerks!
