Bush makes three mistakes while trying to cite one
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N14641042.htm

WASHINGTON, April 14 (Reuters) - While struggling unsuccessfully this week to think of a single mistake he has made since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, U.S. President George W. Bush committed three factual errors about weapons finds in Libya, the White House said on Wednesday.

Bush, long known for his grammatical conundrums and confusing phraseology, told reporters twice during Tuesday's prime-time news conference that 50 tons of mustard gas were discovered at a turkey farm in Libya.

On the second occasion, he was responding to a reporter who asked him to identify the biggest mistake he had made since the 2001 attacks on New York and Washington that killed nearly 3,000 people and prompted the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan.

He could not. But as he searched for an answer, the Republican president reaffirmed his decision to invade Iraq and said weapons of mass destruction may still lie hidden there.

He called Rumsfeld the Secretary of State as well..

lots of gaffs..

Then there's Tenent who "mis-spoke" too..

makes me wonder if we shouldn't demand a retroactive UN-Impeachement for President Clinton as he also "mis-spoke"

5. George W Bush
most probably has brain damage. This could be caused from years of alcohol abuse and other drugs. I'm saying this without malice.

I read a website of Bush 'mis-quotes' which was a very long list of all kinds of amusing and ridiculous quotes from this man. After reading hundreds of quotes, I noticed that he knows the right words, but he scrambles them up in the sentence, or merges 2 sentences into 1, maybe in an effort to save time.

I'm not sure he understands that he's saying something wrong; maybe he's used to seeing people giggling at him when he's talking, or just a vacant stare which means they did not understand him.

There's very clearly something wrong with the part of his brain that organizes speech and cognitive thinking.

Couldn't the Cabal have picked a better stooge?

22. You Ever Play the Game "Telephone"?
It's a party game for children. Basically, a moderately complicated sentence or phrase is whispered into the ear of the first child. That child then whispers it to a second child, et cetera. When it gets to the last child, they repeat the phrase out loud for everyone to hear. It's almost always different from the initial sentence, often in humorous ways.

You know, so I might tell the first kid, "Sally was a girl from Connecticut who liked chocolate sundaes."

And by the time the last kid says it out loud, it's, "Sally was from connect the dots who loved chocolate on Sunday."

It's close, but not quite. That's what Shrub reminds me of when he's doing these press conferences, speeches, interviews, etc. Someone obviously told him what to say, and he's repeating what he heard, but he doesn't get it all right.

and I can't find much. Well, actually nothing. But Egypt has turkeys. But it is very small production. Backyard kind of stuff. If Libya is similar, could you hide 23 tons of anything in a backyard?

7. Wernike-Korsakoff
I posted this yesterday in a thread here
-------------------------------------------------------------------
It may relieve the DT's but it will not get rid of the signs and symptoms of Wernicke-Korsakoff Syndrome. Watch for these things when you see him speak.

Korsakoff's : A form of amnesia that is often seen in Alcoholics and is characterized by

1) Loss of short term memory and the inability to learn new skills.

2) The person is usually disoriented

3) May present with delirium and hallucinations.

4) Usually confabulates to conceal the condition.

Wernicke's: An inflammatory, degenerative, hemorrhagic condition of the brain that is characterized by

1) Lesions in several parts of the brain.

2) Double vision.

3) Involuntary and rapid eye movements.

4) Lack of muscular coordination.

5) Mild to severe decreased mental function.

These signs and symptoms come about from a lack of B complex vitamins. Ethyl ( Americas favorite lady ) just has the nasty habit of helping one not get their B vitamins. As with any disease, all of the signs and symptoms may be there or none at all in any given moment. I would be real curious to see what a CT - MRI - PET scan would show on him.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I did edit it from the original for bad syntax. I am slowly becoming convinced that he fried his brain.

10. Thanks, JI for the info.
I would say that Bush seems to have Korsakoff's symptoms. The 2nd set seems to be more serious. We know that Bush is a serious jogger, so he probably doesn't show signs of 4) lack of muscular coordination.

Although, I will say that I've seen some photos of him dropping his dog and tripping over things, also knocking over a Sedgway scooter. So maybe he does have it.

Also, these things become more apparent over time, so it may become more obvious. #3), involuntary and rapid eye movements is interesting. We'll see what happens.

I believe that under his joking exterior, there lies a deeply troubled man. A man for whom the world revolves much too quickly, and decisions are made which affect the entire world, as his thinking becomes more confused and disjointed.

I saw it in his face on the night before "he" declared war on Iraq. His face was split into two halves; the left side looked vigiland, but the right side was filled with terror. The right side of his mouth hung down. His eyes betrayed fear over what he'd been told to say.

18. I think he has it
The one about confabulation, when has he not made up some story to cover his butt? That is the legacy of this administration. Who says he choked on a pretzel and fell off the sofa, double vision may have caused him to walk into the wall and fall over? He may be making it up, or the choking on a pretzel and falling off the sofa could be an incident of motor skill again.

I was reading the other day about the astrological signs and it says that his Saturn is coming around again this year. Saturn is the great educator from what I understand. He comes around every 28-30 years and if you have not learned your lessons in that time frame, Saturn cosmically beats some sense into you. It also talked of his familial lines and not being able to break away from their chains. Every person in his cabinet has been recycled from his fathers administration.

In summary, Saturn is going to take him to school this year, he has not fulfilled his cosmic duty to break free of his family and he has Korsokoffs syndrome, the Wernicke's is still questionable. Bush is one messed up individual.

12. I know long-time drinkers with Korsakoff's.
Edited on Wed Apr-14-04 09:25 PM by yardwork
They don't fool close friends and family members, but they can fake being fine for short periods of time. They are often friendly and appear to be warm when greeting people - this is because they can't remember much and so they are constantly vigilant while appearing in public.

If Chimpy suffers from Korsakoff's he would still be able to "work a crowd" at short, carefully organized public events. He would do very poorly one-on-one during lengthy conversations, though. Those present would notice that he kept repeating himself. He and his handlers would try to explain this by saying that Chimpy is "just a simple man with a few heart-felt, fundamental beliefs."

Highly intelligent people with Korsakoff's continue to be highly intelligent even with brain damage. Chimpy's problem runs deeper than alcohol and drug abuse. Chimpy started out sub-normal in the brains department. He's a wealthy child of privilege who appears never to have had a thoughtful moment in his life. He sees things in biblical black-and-white - good guys and bad guys. The good guys are the people who look and act like his family and friends. The bad guys are everybody else.

Edited to add: The people I know with Korsakoff's have good memories of long-ago events. It is the short-term memory that fails them. In other words, they can remember complicated details of things that happened in the past, but they can't remember that they just said hello to you a minute ago.

This might explain Chimpy's rambling, repetitive style of speaking during the press conference. Of course, that is assuming that they let him talk cold and weren't prompting him at all times, which I firmly believe. If I were in charge of Chimpy, I wouldn't let him out without a leash.

27. Yes, the good ol' axis II
301.7 Antisocial PD
301.81 Narcissistic PD

Axis I: Korsocoff's
Axis II: NPD/APD
Axis III: Hx ETOH, cocaine abuse
Axis IV: Barbara Bush, enough said.
Axis V: 40 Some impairment in reality testing or communication, or major impairment in several areas, such as work or school, family relationships, judgement, thinking or mood.

Thanks for the reminder. Why I was trying to relate the Korsokoff's to alcohol abuse and not think psychiatric issues I don't know. I am not sure if I got all of the Axis correct, have not done psych except for my clinical rotations and lectures several years back.

28. I agree with your diagnosis, here.
Edited on Thu Apr-15-04 03:19 PM by TahitiNut
In particular, I think Axis IV is spot on ... remember the death of his sister, the relation of that to a formerly-only-child (Junior) wishing the 'intruder' (sister) dead, and the absentee father and domineering mother. Father was baseball star in college, so George obsesses on baseball (but as cheerleader and frontman). Father was pilot, so Junior was (FAILED) pilot. We can also note problems with the legal system: DWI, AWOL, abortion, drug abuse. You name it. Dysfunctional? Overcompensation? We could really get Freudian on this one.

Korsokoffs syndrome is only mildly evident, buried in NPD. In Junior's view, anything that results in a response from his enablers/audience is OK. This is the ONLY ethic for a Naricissist. I'd GAF him at about 35-45 on Axis V. (Axis III: I'd want some skull scans.)

It's entirely possible that Laura's a mildly Inverted Narcissist. It's a marriage made in Psychosocial Hell.

Let's remind ourselves about NPD ...
An all-pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behaviour), need for admiration or adulation and lack of empathy, usually beginning by early adulthood and present in various contexts. Five (or more) of the following criteria must be met:
  • Feels grandiose and self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents to the point of lying, demands to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)
  • Is obsessed with fantasies of unlimited success, fame, fearsome power or omnipotence, unequalled brilliance (the cerebral narcissist), bodily beauty or sexual performance (the somatic narcissist), or ideal, everlasting, all-conquering love or passion
  • Firmly convinced that he or she is unique and, being special, can only be understood by, should only be treated by, or associate with, other special or unique, or high-status people (or institutions)
  • Requires excessive admiration, adulation, attention and affirmation - or, failing that, wishes to be feared and to be notorious (narcissistic supply)
  • Feels entitled. Expects unreasonable or special and favourable priority treatment. Demands automatic and full compliance with his or her expectations
  • Is "interpersonally exploitative", i.e., uses others to achieve his or her own ends
  • Devoid of empathy. Is unable or unwilling to identify with or acknowledge the feelings and needs of others
  • Constantly envious of others or believes that they feel the same about him or her
  • Arrogant, haughty behaviours or attitudes coupled with rage when frustrated, contradicted, or confronted

"The president misspoke and we just want to correct the record," explained White House spokesman Scott McClellan.

I find it funny that Condi before her testimony to the 9/11 commission said that she "misspoke" about some issues as well...

must be catching...

13. is this only for drinking alcoholics? or even after they have
some long term sobriety? Course I am a recovered (recovering) alcoholic now for 12 years, but the job of president would sure "drive me to drink" esp since Bush isn't a member of Alcoholic Anonymous. I can tell you from experience in AA that there is nobody scarier than a "dry drunk" who used the church to sober up. Dry drunks are mean, and petulant and can't ever accept responsibility for their actions, it's always "somebody else's" fault

"Dry Drunk" has been described as "A condition of returning to one's old alcoholic thinking and behavior without actually having taken a drink." Or as one wise old drunk put it, if a horse thief goes into A.A. what you can end up with is a sober horse thief. Or a personal favorite: you can take the rum out of the fruit cake, but you've still got a fruit cake!

Those who quit drinking but are still angry about it, wind up living miserable lives and usually make everyone else around them miserable too. If it has been said once in an Al-Anon meeting, it has been whispered thousands of times, "I almost wish he would go back to drinking."

http://alcoholism.about.com/cs/info/a/aa081397.htm

FYI do a search on "dry drunk" and see how many articles there are about Bush and that topic---- LOTS!

19. Stinking thinking
I am not to familiar with dry drunk syndrome. What I understand of it, he has been sober to long to be suffering from it. That is if he has been sober as long as he claims. The Korsokoff's is caused by brain damage basically, and is not dependent on sobriety time.

Look at the propaganda and repression rampant in the homeland since that den of vipers stole the election. How about their mad rush to take over the rest of the world.

Those beady shiny little lizard eyes and the forked tongue flicking out after every sssybilant phrase are a dead giveaway.
