Wisconsin family buries 1 of 3 sisters sent to Iraq (KC Star)
<snip>

"Youth pastors don't do many funerals," Witmer's youth pastor, the Rev. Brian Dunn, told the crowd Wednesday at Elmbrook Church. "And if they do, it's because something went terribly wrong."

Her father, John Witmer, broke down and sobbed in the church's front row during a musical tribute following the medal ceremony. His wife, Lori Witmer, fell into one of her son's arms weeping as Michelle's voice filled the church sanctuary on an audiotape recording of her as a teenager describing her excitement at finding a love for God.

"I feel so privileged to have been her mother," Lori Witmer told the crowd later.

Brig. Gen. Kerry Denson, commander of the Wisconsin National Guard, read a message Wednesday from one of Witmer's colleagues, who wrote that Witmer tried defend herself and her fellow soldiers when they confronted "a well-planned ambush."

Hope hope the sisters stay here with their folks. They've paid in full.

1. that whole thing is ripping my guts out
what kind of a people are we?

Are we as a nation so......I don't have the word for it......that this is normal and okay and gets 50% approval? Sending three sisters to Iraq to die?

And if you want to punch a hole in your wall tonight, go to that family's web site and read the guestbook. It's full of freepers telling them that they're cowards if they don't go back, that they entered the military for an education at the taxpayers' expense, so now they owe it to the taxpayers to go back.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is who we are. Instead of educating our children as their birthright and because it's the moral thing to do, we tell them that if they want an education they can't afford, then they deserve to die for their greed.

http://home.wi.rr.com/jwitmer/ is the family's web site.

I grieve for my country. I grieve for that family. I grieve for humanity and this planet.

Sometimes I wonder how humanity in general, and this country in particular, has survived thus far. If the smirking bastard gets another term, we can safely call the American experiment in self-government a miserable failure.

Lucky girl got to see Jesus before me... i have to smile when i think of her up there singing with the angels and walkin' on streets of gold. my thoughts and prayers are with your family. here is a paper i wrote about the girls in school last fall entitled "proud to be an american"

“… And I’m proud to be an American Where at least I know I’m free, And I won’t forget the men who died Who gave that right to me…” Although I’m not quite sure where I stand on the war with Iraq, as well as many others, I want to tell you about three girls that are truly “real American heroes.” The kind of heroes that are so selfless and generous that they are willing to sacrifice their life for a reason that they may not even agree with. They are the most awesome examples of pride in their country and faith in their president that I could ever dream of. They are the kind of role models that make me truly “Proud to be an American.” Because of them, and all the armed forces fighting to protect me and liberate Iraq, I would do anything I could for them. They have given me so much hope and so much pride that I feel no matter what I did, it wouldn’t be enough. So instead of huge gestures, I want to say the most grateful thing I can - Thank you. If you ever forget what or whom you’re fighting for, remember this- I support you, along with millions of Americans. Never lose hope; we’re behind you 100%. I pray daily for safety and quick return home. For those that disagree with the war, I hope that you never let it turn into resentment of the troops. If you do, remember this- They are out there dying for you, whether you like it or not. Thank you Charity, Michelle, and Rachel.

“… And I gladly stand up next to you And defend her still today, ‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A…”

4. That one was obviously written by a child.
Children are easily brainwashed -- let's hope that one grows up.

I'm looking now for the one that made me punch a hole in the wall (and I'm not kidding about that.)

Must be nice to use the media to opt out of commitment. Im sorry for your loss but all 3 knew of the risks and did it for personal gain (schooling paid for) Do you think the familys of the other killed soldiers, civalians wish they could opt out ??? Jane fonda all over again......

--------------------------------------------

I punched a hole in the wall when I read that. My right fist is swollen. I wish I was kidding.

I do not own a gun, and I never will, because I would run into a piece of shit like the freeper who left that message, and then I would use it.

There is no hell hot enough for the freeper who wrote that. :grr:

10. The "knew what they were getting into" argument hardly applies
to the National Guard. Everyone I've known in the Guard joined to train for emergency service in their state, not travel to foreign countries to kill and be killed.

11. Even people who accept that argument
would be hard-pressed to say that 19 and 20 year old kids deserve to die for wanting an education.

Fucking freepers. I don't know how to trace an IP address, but I'd bet real money that that post in that grieving family's guestbook didn't come from Iraq. :grr:

12. It's a Mother Fucking Chicken Hawk Coward
It is not human---- it is a Bush Bot Machine.

It needs "re-education" through labor.

There are several of these "Clones" here.

One who made a big deal of another Wisconsin woman killed,( I posted the story of my fellow badger Army Reserve Pfc. Nichole M. Frye, 19, from Lena,)

That Moran tried to use the gender argument of "She was only a woman"

Thank God Skinner banned that Clown at the Speed of light.

Edited:: to get out most of the profanity

We are talking about something that is sickeningly profane.

7. Were these 3 interviewed on TV by a boppie like Katie Couric?
Edited on Thu Apr-15-04 07:16 AM by lostnfound
I remember seeing 3 sisters in the service on one of the talk shows. Maybe it wsn't them. In any case, the two remaining sisters aren't likely to be TV-newsworthy.

8. Yeah.
They're all sad and distraught and their hearts are shredded. They're probably not rah-rah sis boom bah Gooooooo Booooosh!!! They won't be on the news much at all. (I doubt that was them -- there probably would be some mention of the TV appearance on the family web site, and there isn't.)

14. Terribly sad. Very telling photo..
The look on the faces is terrible grief, but there is also disillusionment, and questioning.

The freepers will burn in hell for what they are posting on that family's site. If the trash on the yahoo boards written about Thomas Hammill's wife is any indication of the evil for sport in this country, then we're in deep trouble.

18. Freepers and Neocons egged Bu$h on in his rush to Iraq.
Edited on Thu Apr-15-04 09:26 PM by DemoTex
They know now that they fucked up. Bad. So why don't they just shut up, instead of insulting the grieving family and desecrating the memory of their lost child? I know the answer and you know the answer. It has to do with all the things they, like their hero Bu$h, lack: character, integrity, humility, compassion, tolerance, intelligence, morality, and just plain decency.

This is for them:

Hieronymus Bosch, Hell (from The Last Judgement)

20. No I'm not.
I saw Bosch's Hell in Venice (I think it was). It was terrifying, in a "can't forget it," "can't sleep after seeing it," kind of way. It is, well, hell! Bosch has another painting of hell that is worse, but I couldn't find it on the Internet.

(BTW: Good response in the Lounge tonight. Like your style. Maybe it's the Alabama thing. I'm originally from LA ... Mobile.)
