EDINBURG — An Edinburg soldier died early Wednesday after being ambushed in Fallujah, his family confirmed Wednesday evening. Sgt. Christopher Ramirez, 34, of Edinburg had been in the United States Army for the past 14 years, and originally was supposed to retire last December, his brother Eugene Ramirez said. Instead, his tour was extended another year. ... His niece Vanessa Rangel, 18, a high school student in Pharr, said she was considering going into the military but her uncle talked her out of it.She said she would never consider going into the military now that her uncle has died.“He was out already, they made him go back,” Rangel said. “He would be here with us.”http://www.themonitor.com/SiteProcessor.cfm?Template=/GlobalTemplates/Details.cfm&StoryID=1399&Section=LocalI'll say I feel a draft coming on.
