MONTGOMERY | A federal judge in Florida has refused to order U.S. District Judge Mark Fuller to step down from deciding whether former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman and former HealthSouth CEO Richard Scrushy should receive a new trial on government corruption charges.

Fuller presided over their 2006 trial and sentenced both to federal prison.

Siegelman and Scrushy had asked Fuller to step down from considering the new trial motion because he participated in a meeting with government officials, undisclosed to the defense, about allegations some jurors sent emails to each other during the trial.

U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle of the Northern District of Florida ruled last week that he found no reason to question Fuller’s “impartiality” and to order him to step down from the case.

up? Jaysus!

ETA: For whatever it's worth, Fuller was nominated for appointment to the bench by Dummya, Hinkle by Bubba and I guess Obama's D of J argued against the request for a new trial.

11. How does replying to the OP explain why you posted about Clinton?
Edited on Fri Jul-08-11 09:50 AM by No Elephants
We've all replied to the OP and the info about Clinton was already on the thread. And it's really not like either of us to post random facts for absolutely no reason, other than someone might be interested in seeing it (twice).

Looks like both Fuller and Hinkle should set down -- !!
