1. Judge to head News of the World hacking inquiry - Cameron
Edited on Fri Jul-08-11 05:06 AM by dipsydoodle
A judge will lead a public inquiry into the phone hacking scandal at the News of the World, the prime minister said.

David Cameron defended his decision to appoint Andy Coulson, the former News of the World editor, as director of communications, a job he later quit.

Labour leader Ed Miliband had called on the PM to apologise for the "appalling error of judgement" in employing Mr Coulson, editor from 2003 to 2007.

Mr Coulson is expected to be questioned later at a London police station.

A second enquiry will look into practices of the press............now included in link above

Mr Cameron said a second inquiry would look at the ethics and culture of the press and he also said the Press Complaints Commission (PCC) would be scrapped, adding: "I believe we need a new system entirely".

2. Is he trying to cover for himself?
He knew about the hacking as it came up several times over the past few years. He hired Coulson one of Murdoch's top guys as his media representative. It seems the British Government and its entertainment industry along with any high profile individual have lived in fear of Murdoch, a man who is not even a citizen of that country, for decades now.

Coulson is about to be arrested, if he has not been already as it is morning there. And as can be expected of Murdoch scum, it is said he 'intends to talk'. So others are probably quaking, including Cameron.

Cameron must also be questioned at least regarding his association with him.

It's stunning to read how controlled the British were by this monster, Murdoch. How could that have happened? Is there more to him than just being a Media Mogul?

I read today that members of Parliament appeared to have been released from fear as one after the other they stood up and finally spoke their minds about Murdoch and his Media Empire's destruction of much of their society.

But it was really the news of the hacking of murder victims' families' phones, of the victims of 7/7 that finally got the public enraged enough to boycott the tabloids and to start petitions to advertisers etc. Some in Britain were calling it 'people power' as Parliament have lived in fear of Murdoch for so long they were afraid to do anything about him.

I wonder what will be discovered in the US? And elsewhere. There is much more to the Murdoch story than we know.

In fact, Julian Assange claimed to have explosive material on Murdoch, which he was using as 'insurance' should anything happen to him. To use THAT rather than any of the other material he has, means there is much, much more to this story than we know about.

I hope this scandal takes down his entire Empire, and then I hope the Moonie Media Empire is next.

The Brits are hoping that they can now start cleaning up their media, ruined by Murdoch owning so much of it, and get back to some real journalism rather than the lies, smears and attacks they have become accustomed to.

I think there are big powers behind Murdoch. He's like a Global Goehring and I don't think he would have become as powerful as he has without the backing of some pretty powerful people.

8. Yes, Tony Blair was elected
by Murdoch's complete support, leading to Blair's support of the Bush lying us (Saddam's "WMDs," remember?) into the U.S. $$trillion dollars war on Iraq. Maybe, now, the whole Iraqi can of worms will finally come to light.

6. No No No - "Judge Led" NOT a Judicial Inquiry
Edited on Fri Jul-08-11 06:04 AM by denem
Slight of Hand,

The Inquiry will not have Judicial Powers, in particular, no power to order the retention of documents and computer records!
