GOP ties job numbers to anti-tax stance in debt talks
Source: CNN

Top congressional Republicans on Friday used the new dismal jobs report to blast Democrats' push for more tax revenue in the ongoing debt ceiling negotiations, arguing that such a move would derail an already shaky economic recovery.

Federal officials reported Friday that the economy added only 18,000 jobs in June -- far below the number predicted by most economists. Unemployment inched up another tenth of a point to 9.2%.

"Today's report is more evidence that the misguided 'stimulus' spending binge, excessive regulations, and an overwhelming national debt continue to hold back private-sector job creation in our country," said House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio. "A debt limit increase that raises taxes or fails to make serious spending cuts won't pass the House."

It's clear that the Republicans don't give a damn about economics, or the American people. It's Economics 101 that cuts in government spending push down job growth. They would rather see a double dip recession than a second Obama term.

4. devoid of logic.
where are the jobs that have been added due to the existing tax cuts. Indeed where are jobs that have been created as a result of any action of this Congress?

10. does anyone see the connection?
We get report Wednesday that Obama is putting SS & medicare cuts on the table. Boehner comes out pushing harder the fear that (wink wink) jobs and the economy won't improve calling it even a 'dire' situation. Now are these two working together to accomplish the same goal or what? Jobs and the economy aren't going to improve for about 10 more years. They know it and ss and medicare are going to be on the chopping block because there are less workers paying into it with more job loss to come.

Saying things without backing them up with any facts...............

Off of boner website

“The American people are still asking the question: where are the jobs? Today’s report is more evidence that the misguided ‘stimulus’ spending binge, excessive regulations, and an overwhelming national debt continue to hold back private-sector job creation in our country. Legislation that raises taxes on small business job creators, fails to cut spending by a larger amount than a debt limit hike, or fails to restrain future spending will only make things worse – and won’t pass the House. Republicans are focused on jobs, and are ready to stop Washington from spending money it doesn’t have and make serious changes to the way we spend taxpayer dollars. We hope our Democratic counterparts will join us and seize this opportunity to do something big for our economy and our future, and help get Americans back to work.”

13. Rachel had a counterpoint to the tax cut for the rich corporations
Too bad more people didn't see it. She had a list of very profitable companies who
brought down their employment ranks, while profits were rising and actually hiring outside the country. What people need to know is what is going on with these companies; they should report every month how many jobs are outsourced and by whom, along with their quarterly results. Tax havens in Bermuda, Cayman Islands etc should be abolished and money repatriated to US.
The Gop are dragging the debt ceiling, to cause uncertainty about the economy thus keeping people from hiring. Some will get out of the stock market soon because of the debt ceiling fight, causing more problems. Some are hoping for a buying opportunity.

John Boehner has spouted this shit for so long.. He is an Idiot....
Most if not all the Corporations these dickheads are backing to the Death have no Job creation problems at all when investing in Other Countries that allow corporate exploitation of labor...
These Corporations do not recognize national Borders.. In fact they think of them as hurdles to be over come..
that is why there has been dismal numbers as for as employment in America...

And how about those support numbers Bonehead keeps right on quoting as the majority of Americans who support these Repukes and what they are doing.. Or should i say not doing???
These same Folks payed more in taxes during Clinton as they grew so huge without any problem...
Tax breaks do not energize a economy.. the people and how they spend their money does...

Pure bullshit spin from the
<<<<<<<<<<<<<GOP>>>>>>>>>>>>
The Party of NO and Righteous Stupidity....

15. They base their plan on an economic theory, but they have utterly
no evidence that theory provides long-term economic prosperity.

Their economic theories lead to booms and busts over and over, painful booms and busts that cost people their homes, their farms, their businesses. The euphoria during the boom creates lots of jobs. Sure. But then the depression in the busts forces everyone to start all over.

The Republican economic philosophy is a nightmare for most Americans.

Enough already.

16. Corrupt idiots. Taxes have nothing to do with jobs.

A simple glance at economic charts over the last century shows conclusively: jobs are correlated heavily with GDP, which has no correlation whatsoever with taxes, meaning that there is no connection between job growth/shrinkage and taxes. I know it sounds like common sense that if companies are taxed less they'll use the extra revenue to create jobs, but the relation doesn't factually check out.

This, BTW, disproves low-tax, supply-side economics. No matter how much you cut taxes, there's still no relation to creating jobs. Good news is, if you cut taxes, it probably doesn't mean that you'll prevent jobs.

17. Change the freakin tax code so that "Small Business" can be distinguished from "Filthy Rich"
The complaints on the right are always "You will hurt small business!!" even if the topic has nothing to do with samll business. So change the code so that small busuness can retain the tax break, phase it out so that big business doesn't get all the benefit and tax the hell out of the rich people who have had it easy the last 30 years.
