RACINE - Gov. Scott Walker was barely audible as hundreds countered his speech with shouts of "Shame" during Gateway Technical College's centennial celebration Tuesday.

"It's insulting to all of the students, staff and businesses who depend on technical colleges to have someone who just slashed our funding by 30 percent," said Michael Rosen, a state board member with the Wisconsin Technical College System.

"He can't be seriously attending this celebration," he said.

More than half of the attendees, however, came to jeer the governor with many wearing anti-Walker and pro-union attire.

Walker gets drowned out by protesters at Gateway Technical College event
– July 12, 2011Posted in: Mass Media, Press

Hundreds of protesters wearing anti-Walker, pro-union apparel shouted “Shame” and “Recall Walker” drowning out the governor as he began to speak at a Gateway Technical College centennial event Tuesday.

“We’re here to let Scott Walker know that we are against what he’s doing, and I wonder who he’s working for,” said Kay Schultz, 60, of Kenosha, with the Kenosha Education Association teachers union. “He’s working for himself and for the Republican party, not for the people who elected him.”

One of my degrees is from Gateway...I didn't know he was going to be there for the celebration or I would have stopped when I drove by today.

11. Darn I missed this one ... wish I knew about it
He does not acknowledge the protestors just keep on a speaking. Something deeply wrong with this man but considering all the damage he has done to this State his days are numbered. His RECALL is coming!

The event was held at Gateway’s Racine Campus, 1001 S. Main St. It was attended, police estimated, by about 400 people, more than half of whom were there to protest Gov. Scott Walker, one of the speakers.

every place they appeared. EVERY time.

Hope other states emulate Wisconsin.

remember "free speech zones"? mass arrests? plus you didn't get to see it on the news. citizen journalism has really grown up, happily.
