2. Hope she's a significant upgrade from the previous occupant of that seat.
Couldn't possibly be any worse. Good riddance to that piece of garbage.

3. Oh, she will be.
Both she and Debra Bowen are way more liberal than Jane Harman. WAY MORE.

13. Repukes with an (R) after their names don't disgrace the Party as
much as Repukes with a (D) after their names.

In any event, we got a Democrat. So much for the myth that our only choice is a Repuke with a (D) after the name or a Repuke with an (R) after the name. The political fear game is played out.

7. Remember, it was a low turnout mid-summer special, and Huey fought hard. 10 points is SOLID.

16. YES! The spread should have been even bigger for the area.
It's insane that the Thug got what he got for votes.

AND...next year (remember, this is election was simply to fill Jane "DINO - WarHawk" Harman's spot after she, like Palin, QUIT) will be another vote. NOTING that it will be a reshaped district, then to include the Palos Verdes Peninsula (Palos Verdes Estates and Rancho Palos Verde), HEAVILY Republican.

THAT will be a problem. They have power and money and the rest of us "flat landers" make up the majority and are much, much poorer.

Hahn almost blew this...she attacked Debra Bowen (Dem) and that is how we ended up with a Hahn and Huey race, instead of a Hahn and Bowen race (we in CA now have a system where the top two vote getters do the runoff, regardless of party).

Make no mistake...I'm happy a Dem got the spot. WE are not happy with Hahn...we've lived in her district for 25+ years...we've seen folks come and go...I personally think she's worthless (after multiple attempts to work with her office on local problems).

This was no Dem Miracle...and get ready for next year...that's gonna be a problem.

10. Another example of how to beat a TeaPuke: FIGHT ! Hahn and her team SPANKED this guy HARD in ads
and mailers. LABELED the asshole as the RIGHT WING EXTREMIST that he is. GOOD JOB ! So much for the West Coast's "Scott Brown Moment." In fact, Scott Brown would have LOST too hadCoakley and her team not run such a SHITTY campaign. Regardless of the slow economy, IF Dems form the right narrative for 2012, we will do very well. The RePUKES have FUCKED themselves with their crazy right wing policies, and they have ZERO plan for the economy except their old standby of giving the country away to the greedy rich.

21. Democrats in CA hold House seat after tough race
Source: San Jose Mercury News

LOS ANGELES—What was the surprise in a coastal California congressional election?
The Republican won 45 percent of the vote.
Democrat Janice Hahn survived a scare Tuesday and grabbed the vacant 36th Congressional District House seat, but her nine-point winning margin over Republican Craig Huey was less than impressive in a district that often delivers big victories for Democrats.

23. "Tough", my ass.
The only thing tough about it was the mud thrown by Huey and his tea-bagger friends. The best they could manage was an 8-point loss in a special election. If the district remains mostly unchanged, we'll win by a bigger margin in 2012.

24. It was a very tough race.
Even though the Dems hold the advantage as to registered voters, they tend to not turn out well in special elections.

We managed to keep to the high road, higher at least than that fucking tea-bagger Huey with his scummy mailers did.

It was hard-fought, and we conquered him.

After re-districting next year, it will be a lot tougher to beat him, and I'm pretty sure he'll be back.
