Gov. Walker, lawmakers fare poorly in poll

By Jason Stein of the Journal Sentinel

July 13, 2011 2:46 p.m. |(207) Comments..........................

The University of Wisconsin Badger Poll also found that state residents overwhelmingly approve of the state’s recall process, even if they're more divided on what outcomes they want for the nine senators facing recall elections. The survey also found nearly half of state residents disapprove of the job that Democratic lawmakers are doing.

Also Wedensday, the state Democratic Party released limited information about polling done about those recall campaigns.

..................

The poll found that 59% of state residents disapproved of Walker’s handling of his job as governor. That’s 9 percentage points higher than the 50% of state residents who disapproved of Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle’s job in June 2010.

At a Capitol bill signing Wednesday, Walker dismissed the poll, saying he didn’t govern according to public opinion surveys.

“I think it’s a reflection of the frustration that people have with the national economy,” he said..............

13. Good for you! If I weren't all the way in Massachusetts, I would love to do the same.
Our Massachusetts legislature and Governor also enacted anti-collective bargaining legislation, but there was not a word about it from unions or public employees. Very sad.

Best wishes for success.

6. Walker will find out in January just how unpopular he is...
:D

I'm not in WI, but I don't need to be to recognize an asshole. He's a goner come recall time in January...then he might finally realize how stupid and obnoxious he truly is...then again, he's dumb enough to miss it completely.

7. "I don't govern according to public opinion surveys."
First legitimately truthful thing he's ever said. He doesn't give two shits what HIS BOSSES have to say about anything. Only THE BOSSES.

14. Outstanding, though I believe he really belongs in the Senate.
He's such a high quality politician. What's wrong with voters?

He'll have a leg up on the name recognition issue and will be a known quantity.

I hope voters display some sense and elect him in a landslide if he runs.
