Reid: Cantor should not be in debt limit talks
Source: AP

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says House Majority Leader Eric Cantor should not be part of the debt limit negotiations. He's calling the Virginia Republican congressman "childish."

Reid says Cantor's conduct during the sensitive White House talks have shown, in Reid's words, "he shouldn't even be at the table." Reid says other congressional leaders are negotiating in good faith as an Aug. 2 deadline approaches for raising the debt limit.

1. That's what I feel also
I hate to trot out the old "Children should be seen and not heard" but for Cantor it fits. It is one thing to be in on these talks to learn something, but his churlish attitude, his 'petulant child' behavior is a detriment to his cause and party.

6. Listen Eric, What Works On Fox News Doesn't Work In Real Negotiations
Eric Cantor just kept on repeating the talking point that Congress should vote on the spending cuts identified without any agreement to vote on the corresponding revenue increases, so no wonder President Obama shut him down.

Eric Cantor must have been surprised, since he gets to repeat himself without interruption on Fox News.

54. Cantor is caught up in Lenin's (and Ailes's) own tactics
Lenin said that a lie, repeated often enough and loud enough becomes the truth. But Lenin was
smart enough to know the difference. The Foxsuckers tell the lies, and then hear them so often,
they start to believe them, themselves.

Self-hypnosis is not helpful in the political process. If Fox said the best politicians were
those that walked on four legs, barked and chased cars, you can bet that the House Republican
caucus would suddenly be ordering a lot of Alpo.

14. that's what you get when you appoint a drunken whore-monger
as your chamber leader....... the children end up having to step in to rescue the drunken parent.

Cantor is out of his depth and rethugs know it but unless they are willing to oust Boner mid session they're stuck with him. If they discount their leadership in favor of tier 2 players in their party at this point in the negotiations, they might as well just skip the 2012 elections and save themselves the embarrassment.

17. Yes - she has Steny Hoyer with her.
Asked this the other day as I was afraid Obama was going it on his own against the trifecta of Boehner, Cantor and McConnell.

Apparently it is the top 2 leaders from each party, each chamber. Kyl is in there as well as Dick Durbin and Harry Reid.

23. Eric Cantor is PERFECT -
for representing the ridiculum that's the bred & butt-er of the fast diluting Tee Farty. When an emerging movement is based totally on false assumptions and contortions of this nation's history to give it a cause, they need wise-cracking phonies like Cantor and Rand Paul to peddle their snake oil.

26. Its time to demand that Cantor release his specific plan
for how to cut $2.4 trillion. Its also time to demand Cantor pass it through the House. The GOP has the nerve now to demand that Obama come up with the cuts while the GOP hides from the heat. Meanwhile, the GOP doesn't even have nearly enough votes to pass what they are advocating. 80 to 120 GOP House members refuse to vote for any increase under any circumstances. Those members should release their plan for how the government can get by on 60% of its current revenue.

39. I think Cantor resembles Eddie Haskell
more than Eddie Munster. Eddie Munster was a sweet if somewhat odd looking kid, and his father Herman was a blue collar stiff (no pun intended) with a great laugh, a positive attitude, and a (very) square head on his shoulders.

Eddie Haskell by contrast was a weaselly, oily little sycophant who would flatter people to their faces, all the while plotting to steal their lunch money as soon as their backs were turned. A conniving, whining, double-crossing, unethical little sociopathic monster without an honest bone in his body.

In short, your typical right wing Republican politician.

He should be in short pants, riding a scooter, chewing gum, and spinning the propeller on the beanie on his head.

Reid, on the other hand, should be in a retirement home enjoying a rocking chair someplace. If you're going to put an old man in charge of the Senate, at least put a principled, cantacerous, plucky old man like SANDERS in charge of it.

Though I think, as a Speaker, he does exactly what the Democrats who elected him want him to do and is therefore unfairly maligned as weak by rank and file Democrats. The weakness (and/or betrayal) is in our conservadem Senators.

57. Harry, you're right and you're wrong.
You're right Cantor shouldn't be in negotiations, but wrong as of why: Cantor is shorting the interest rates on US Treasuries.

You guys know the old Republican mantra that Congress should be forced to obey the laws it passes? Eric Cantor MIGHT not want to say that anymore, because if we had that the SEC would be frog-marching him down the Capitol steps for market manipulation.
