9/11 panel accused of prejudice
The commission investigating the 11 September 2001 attacks on the US has been criticised for being "partisan".
Leading congressional Republicans Tom DeLay and Eric Cantor each sent letters to the commission chairman complaining about the tone of recent questioning.

House majority leader Mr DeLay said "partisan mudslinging" by members could undermine the panel's credibility.

11. By golly,....I do believe you are correct.
The only reason these guys would attack the commission is because it is successfully investigating the issue. The LAST thing those freon neocons creeps want is for the truth to get out there 'cause the truth only damages those creeps.

3. The 911 commission has looked equally partisan by all
members. This is just GOP ploy like, the so called liberal media. I hope the commission bitch slaps Delay.

4. A carefully scripted and cultivated smear.

Hell, they're *begging* for partisanship on that panel.
When they can't find it, they inject it themselves.
Anything to give their followers an excuse not to listen.

5. Absurd.
Although I suppose the neocon definition of partisan is anything, especially the truth, that makes them look bad.

How can these people talk of partisanship after what was done to Clinton?

And all the while he is trying to fight terrorism.

I sincerely believe every registered republican ought to be charged with treason.

Hypocrite cannot begin to describe these weasels.

10. What about the "tone" of Thompson and Lehman with Clarke!
And Kerrey, a Democrat, has been quite harsh with Clinton officials. This stuff should be nipped in the bud, by somebody, before it takes hold in the public mindset.

20. the GOPers always do this -- make accusations for which they are guilty
that way they can justify playing politics. It's basically a post-emptive way of saying "he started it" when THEY actually started it, with Clarke.

Clarke let them have it, by the way. Slammed them big time

18. The pathology of our political system
that simply has to many obstructions to finding out the truth on matters even as grave as the 9/11 attacks is going to destroy this country. With nothing accomplished by the 9/11 Commission we return to 9/12/01 in regards to national security.

Nothing, not one fucking thing will be done to improve national security because Bush is behind 9/11. The only way for anything to be accomplished is, at minimum, to expose LIHOP and impeach Bush. That will not happen now.

22. man! thanks for those links.....it's a hydra-headed octopus
every single aspect of this story leads to more and more labyrinthine avenues of approach

and you KNOW the Warren commission isn't up to the task, even if it had the time/scope/budget of the WJC inquisition

BTW, did you see that article from the Houston Chronicle the other day, that said Whitewater, etal cost over 72 MILLION? as of last fall.

according to the article, it's finally just about over......just about

This post is addressing letters written by the commission.

here:

House Republicans Say 9/11 Panel Playing Politics

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Two leading congressional Republicans on Friday accused the commission investigating the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks of descending into partisan finger-pointing instead of examining problems that allowed the deadly hijackings.

"Partisan mudslinging, circus-atmosphere pyrotechnics, and gotcha-style questioning do not get us closer to the truth. They serve as dangerous distractions from the global war on terror," House of Representatives' Majority leader Tom DeLay said in a letter to the commission.

DeLay of Texas and Rep. Eric Cantor of Virginia, a member of the House Republican leadership, said the commission has lost credibility, with some members more focused on stating opinions than getting information.

They made their charges in separate letters after the Republican Bush administration came under tough questioning in hearings on Tuesday and Wednesday for what some commission members called a complete intelligence failure ahead of the attacks that killed about 3,000 people.
