Conservative groups protest at Grijalva's Tucson office
Source: KOLD-TV

They are calling on Washington to cut, cap and balance the federal budget before America asks for a credit extension. The people calling for that are members of the conservative group, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Americans_for_Prosperity">Americans For Prosperity. Other groups, including the Tea Party, were at the protest.

They organized a protest at Rep. Raul Grijalva's Tucson office Thursday. Inside the congressional office, protester Martha Wicklund told a staff member, "Raul Grijalva does represent me in this district. And I don't agree with his stand. I don't agree with the progressive belief."

Grijalva says his plan is the Congressional Progressive Caucus' "The People's Budget." "Our budget balances by the year 2021, no other budget does that, does it in 10 years. And it creates a surplus. And we don't touch the programs that people care about: education. We create a jobs program to put the people to work. We strengthen social security and medicare," Grijalva said.

Grijalva is defiant. He accuses some groups, including the Tea Party, of using the economic downtown to go after programs they never liked. "No amount of hysterics that they do at my office is going to convince me that I have to vote to cut Social Security and Medicare in order to satisfy their political agenda," Grijalva said.

Americans for Prosperity's Hoelscher estimates that about 50 people dropped by during the hour-long demonstration.

9. Well, he certainly makes his position heard. Then, he votes pretty much the
same as most of the other Democrats in the House.

I agree with his stands, though. Just wish our system weren't broken.

7. More Koch brothers crap
Americans for prosperity is funded by the Koch Brothers.

Put it another way - according to them - prosperity stands at odds with the progressive belief - or prosperity stands tall with regressive beliefs.

8. Oh, noes!!111!!! A protest by tens of people!
How did it even make the media, ffs?

"Raul Grijalva does represent me in this district. And I don't agree with his stand."

Well, President Bush and Darth Cheney represented me in this country. And I didn't agree with any of their stand.

Elections have consequences, rigged or not, interfered with by the SCOTUS or not. Move on.
