Man Run Over By His Designated Driver

(INDIANAPOLIS, April 16th, 2004, 10:30 a.m.) -- A woman accidentally ran over her boyfriend and killed him after the man handed her his car keys because he felt too drunk to drive, police said.

Officers who responded to the accident shortly early Thursday found Todd Birch, 24, pinned dead beneath his own car.

His 22-year-old girlfriend, Liza Besser, told police Birch asked her to drive after they left the Slippery Noodle Inn in downtown Indianapolis about 1:40 a.m. Both had been drinking.
