Cameron reported over Rebekah Brooks meeting

By Ian Dunt

David Cameron has been reported to the Cabinet secretary for meeting with Rebekah Brooks and James Murdoch just two days after taking away Vince Cable's responsibility for the BSkyB deal.

Labour MP John Mann wrote to Sir Gus O'Donnell accusing the prime minister of a conflict of interest and therefore a breaking of the ministerial code, although how the case would proceed is unclear given that it is the prime minister who must decide if there is a case to answer.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Mr Cameron and his wife had dinner with James Murdoch, his wife, Rebekah Brooks and her husband on December 23rd, just two days after business secretary Mr Cable lost control over the bid following his assertion that he was "at war" with Murdoch.

“Section 1.2.f of the code states: ministers must ensure that no conflict arises, or appears to arise, between their public duties and their private interests.

This is serious. There will be great pressure on Cameron to allow an investigation of his relationships with Brooks and Murdoch and whether the decision to remove Mr. Cable from the BSsyB deal was influenced by those relationships, particularly in light of the fact that Mr. Cable's concerns about Murdoch appear to have been largely vindicated. If he doesn't he could face a no-confidence vote.

8. If this case
hadn't involved that murdered girl getting her voice mails hacked, there would be nothing to see. This has been going on for over 4 years, investigations getting scuttled left and right. The media was in bed with the police and it took a young girl's voice mail getting hacked into before it became a big story. So I wouldn't be giving the British any kudos on this one.

Others here have said this would happen. It is happening. The above post is the proof.

7. The cabinet hearing opened up with them asking Rupie why he enters
10 Downing via the back door every time when heads of state go through the front door.

It was classic.
