Huge deficit-cutting bill sails through GOP House
Source: news.yahoo.com

WASHINGTON (AP) — Defying a veto threat, the Republican-controlled House voted Tuesday night to slice federal spending by $6 trillion and require a constitutional balanced budget amendment to be sent to the states in exchange for averting a threatened Aug. 2 government default..
......
"Let me be clear. This is the compromise. This is the best plan out there," said Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, head of a conservative group inside the House known as the Republican Study Committee.

1. Stands no chance in the Senate, from what I hear. And not a chance of a Pres. signature.
Bluster, no more nor less.

5. Doubling Down Like This Is Stupid
Perhaps I should say tripling down because "cut" is the Paul Ryan proposal that cost Republicans a safe seat in NY-26 and they add "cap" and "balance". Frankly, without revenue the advertised $6T over 10 years would still leave a deficit and require even more cuts. As irresponsible as this proposal is it still doesn't go far enough to attain the "balance" goal. And good luck with no recessions during that 10 year period where even more cuts would be necessary to comply with the "cap" provision. Legislators do a lot of stupid things but they have outdone themself this time.

6. The idiot Republicans, in the House, have painted themselves into a corner.

I'm starting to doubt their Wall Street masters can reign them in.
I'm starting to doubt any sane Republicans can educate them on the harm they will cause.

I don't know the consequences of a default. There's much speculation what a default means.
I think a default will be bad. I can't imagine all the bad things that might happen.

I would have said, a few months ago, default was not a possibility.
I no longer believe sanity will prevail in the Republican Party.
Hopefully, Obama has prepared for this contingency.

Idiot Republicans. They will destroy the economy. Everyone will suffer.
