GOP questions 9/11 panel credibility | Washington Times
GOP questions 9/11 panel credibility

By Stephen Dinan and Charles Hurt
THE WASHINGTON TIMES

Top Republican House lawmakers, including Majority Leader Tom DeLay, say the commission investigating the failures leading up to the September 11 attacks has degenerated into partisanship that "not only undermines its credibility, it undermines the war effort and endangers our troops."

Mr. DeLay also questioned the continued membership of Clinton administration Justice Department official Jamie S. Gorelick on the commission, and the group actually calling for her to step down grew to include Chief Deputy Majority Whip Eric Cantor, Virginia Republican.

"I think she clearly has some history and a particular viewpoint on this, and one I think raises some concern about her perspective," Mr. Cantor said.

More at the Washington Times

Consider the source of this news though.... I find it funny that a panel hand-picked by Bush is now seen as overly partisan, LOL

5. I agree to some extent
For the most part, the repugs on the commission ask softball questions of administration witnesses.

15. Conspiracy theory?
Is Delay suggesting there be a governmental conspiracy afoot? Get out!

He must be getting worried about the findings. Good, he needs to be worried. His main squeezer is about to get 86'd.

7. I'll say it again
Tom DeLay complaining about partisanship is like Charlie Manson complaining about crime.

10. WTF do they know about credibility? Let's see now, they've
questioned the patriotism and credibility of Paul O'Neill, Richard Clarke, Joe Wilson, Gen. Zinni, Wes Clark, John Kerry, and pretty much anyone who doesn't 100% agree with them about everything.

I heard this same crap spewed on the "Oxyboy" and Hannity shows this last week. They are trying to tell their listeners, that we're all traitors, and anyone who dares voice criticism against the war, this so-called president, or the GOP, are lying traitors, and are putting our troops in harms way.

Well, I've got news for these fascist cretins. Look in the the fricking mirror if you want to see "traitors", and hypocritical assholes with not a shred of credibility. Trying to silence our constitutional right to dissent and discussion is what's traitorous. After all, what the hell are our troops supposedly fighting for over there? Wasn't/isn't it something called freedom? Are we here supposed to subsume OUR freedom, so Iraqis can have their's? What kind of screwed up deal is that?

If there were a just god, he would let me have Tom DeLay in a boxing ring (no gloves) for just five minutes..... Please god...., please?

11. Nah, * only picked the guy that's heading the commission...
Kean. The rest were picked by the Senate and the House, but he did go through a cute little song and dance about who he wanted in the room while being 'interviewed'. When he couldn't win that argument, he insisted Unca Dick be there to hold his paw.

12. They know the final report's not going to be good for *
so they're spinning it as being partisan, three months before it's due out! Longer, since the WH has said they're gonna grab it from the committee's hands before it's released "for review".

So let me see:

* fights establishing a commission of any kind to investigate 9-11, even to the extent of having Cheney threaten (then) Senate Majority Leader Daschle with "dire consequences" should he proceed to try and establish one;

once he gives in to public pressure * insists on how the committee will be structured, with an equal number of Repugs and Dems and an additional member who will be the WH-appointed chairman of the commission;

* requires a majority vote to issue subpoenas;

* gives the commission a ridiculously short timetable to complete its work, and only extends it slightly because of public pressure;

* gives the commission less than 1/10 the amount spent to investigate the Big Dog's penis;

the * Attack Machine goes after everyone who testifies to facts that run contrary to the * Myth;

* refuses to testify under oath, and will only "visit" with the commission if Cheney goes along to hold his hand; and now,

sensing that the report may still break apart a huge chunk of *'s ONLY positive issue for the election, has set his attack machine loose on the commission itself, even though the majority of members -- including the chairman -- are members of the GOP!

Unbelievable!

I knew the commission was going to be a farce when Ari the Liar (remember him?) said that * was confident the commission would find "there was nothing that could have been done to stop the attacks on 9-11."

And despite what anyone says, this was never established as an "independent" commission. The mediawhores have been injecting that word into their stories.

Rove, Cheney and Karen Hughes will do everything in their power to (1) keep the report locked up until after the election, or failing that (2) diminish its impact by saying it's "partisan".

Stay tuned kids, it just gets better and better.

13. We also question the credibility...
There will be, in the end, many unasked questions, and therfore, unanswered questions. That's why we will need a second, maybe a third, fourth or fifth, 9/11 Commission.

And the longer Delay delays, the more commissions we will need. Can you believe a patriotic American would vote for that puke?

14. They'll have no credibility with me unless they explain the reduced FISA
warrants requested and issued. This is the heart of the Moussaoui case, and DoJ is trying to keep us form realizing that we could have learn of the 9/11 plot if a FISA warrant was issued (as requested by the field office) and Moussaoui's computer files investivated!!! A policy of Ashcroft and the new administration may have been directly responsible for not discovering the 9/11 plot:

16. think they would be complaining if it was a Clinton they were
investigation? This is over the top, even for them. The president appointed these people! Is he overly partisan?

Looks like our side is winning, if they want so badly to discredit the whole commission. Don't they realize people can see that?

What hypocrisy!
