News Corporation says law firm Harbottle and Lewis can answer questions from police
Edited on Wed Jul-20-11 02:08 PM by dipsydoodle
Source: BBC News

Meanwhile, News of the World owner News International said it had authorised law firm Harbottle & Lewis to answer any questions from Scotland Yard and the Commons Home Affairs Committee about its work for the company.

During the House of Commons debate on the phone-hacking scandal, MPs called on News International to publish the full exchanges about crucial documents left with the legal firm.

News International has said a May 2007 letter from the firm made it believe that hacking was a "matter of the past" and confined to a single rogue reporter.

3. This part is interesting and apparently up 12,800 people may have been hacked

The law firm had said it was being prevented from responding to "inaccurate" comments made by James Murdoch because News International would not allow it breach its duty of client confidentiality.

Thanks for the thread, dipsydoodle.
