Uribe's Twitter account hacked
Wednesday, 20 July 2011 14:08
Adriaan Alsema

The Twitter account of Colombia's former President Alvaro Uribe was hacked Wednesday, apparently by "Anonymous," an international hacker collective that previously found entry to Colombian government websites.

The hackers announced their successful penetration to Uribe's account by writing "We are Anonymous" and posting a link to a YouTube video regarding the "false" independence of Colombia, which is celebrated July 20.

The hackers changed the template of Uribe's account and put in a link to their blog in the top of the Twitter page.

Approximately one hour after the initial hack, what seemed to be Uribe himself called on followers to help recover the account that had been penetrated by "terrorists."

1. Always with the "terrorists," this Uribe. Projection?

At least we can be sure it was him.

4. That's for sure! Just like any right-winger, he sees everyone sane as a "commie," FARC, or terrorist
If he lived here he'd be wildly popular with the teabaggers.

Anonymous gives Colombian president a hack attack
(AFP) – 5 hours ago

BOGOTA — Colombia's President Juan Manuel Santos on Wednesday tweeted that his Facebook page had been hit by the hacker group Anonymous, which took a swipe at the country's independence celebrations.

"I regret the interference with the Facebook account that is in my name, and the messages that have been published there," Santos said in the microblogging service.

On Santos' personal page Anonymous left short phrases that are one of its calling cards, and a link to a video entitled "False Independence," as Colombia marks the 201st year of its independence from Spain.

The video says that the July 20 celebrations should not be held. It argued that the country needed to demand its full rights on all fronts, criticizing violence and unemployment rates in the South American nation of about 45 million.

3. Hope they can protect their anonymity. It will save their lives if they can.
At least Santos is a little more sophisticated than to screech "terrorists" at them, like Uribe!

It's GREAT seeing that government take some heat, regardless. They have a world of repenting to do.
