Buddy Roemer Announces Candidacy
Source: ABC News

Charles Elson “Buddy” Roemer announced his candidacy for president at Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H. Thursday afternoon. With the addition of the Former Louisiana Governor there are now 11 contenders in the 2012 presidential race.

In his announcement speech, Roemer said, “I run to prepare America to grow jobs again, beginning with the elimination of our tolerance for unfair foreign trade practices and the use of our own tax code to ship jobs overseas. I run to reveal and challenge the control of the special interest over our nation’s capital, and demonstrate the freedom to lead that can only come from refusing their money.”

Roemer is pledging that he'll take no money from political action committees and no donation more than $100.

But with his self-imposed fundraising limitations, low name identification outside of Louisiana, and late start, Roemer is unlikely to compete for the nomination.

Is there room in the back seat of the clown car, or will he have to ride on the roof?

3. his comment above sounds good, however, jumping on the clownwagon this late just implies someone who
is looking for a million or two in donations to retire on.

6. This guy won the Governor job as a Dem. Went on to switch parties.
He wasn't always GOP. I was a fan because as a Dem he promised to change biz as usual in Louisiana.

He got into office and clashed with the legislature immediately.

He's one of those guys that ran a great race, won, then flamed out in office.

8. He would probably appeal to independents who
are pro-choice, Southern and fiscally conservative.

His candidacy might seem like a joke now, but he is one to watch.

I base this on a quick reading of his Wikipedia bio.

15. True -- but that's exactly why he'll be eaten alive in the primaries
The repuke primary electorate is composed mainly of crazed teabagger types.

Also his pro-choice credentials are based mainly on not being as rabidly anti-choice as nearly every other politician in La. He's hardly a NARAL member.

9. But wait, there's more!
DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — He’s pro-God, pro-family, pro-country, pro-life; he’s in favor of the military, the Second Amendment and smaller federal government; and he wields a sizable red, white and blue wrench.

“We have a lot of big problems — we need a big wrench,” Republican candidate for president John Davis, 54, of Grand Junction, Colo., said Wednesday during a brief stop in Dover-Foxcroft. With the oversize wrench, Davis is touting his “Let’s Fix America” message throughout the country by making stops in all 3,143 U.S. counties.

His Piscataquis County visit was preceded Wednesday by a stop in Skowhegan and followed late Wednesday by an appearance in the Aroostook County town of Sherman, No. 891 on his list.

Driving a large recreational vehicle around the country at his own expense, Davis said he doesn’t have name recognition or celebrity status, so he decided to meet members of the public on their own turf.

10. "grow jobs"...
I really wish we would stop using the word "grow" this way- it is annoying. Grow the economy, grow job- what? You have some job seeds to plant?

14. Mike Gravel, who bravely read the Pentagon Papers into the Congressional record? I don't think so.
