Justice Department Prepares Subpoenas in News Corp. Inquiry
Source: Wall Street Journal

The U.S. Justice Department is preparing subpoenas as part of preliminary investigations into News Corp. relating to alleged foreign bribery and alleged hacking of voicemail of Sept. 11 victims, according to a government official.

The issuance of such subpoenas, which would broadly seek relevant information from the company, requires approval by senior Justice Department leadership, which hasn't yet happened, the person said.

The issuance of subpoenas would represent an escalation of scrutiny on the New York-based media company. While the company has sought to isolate the legal problems in the U.K., it has been bracing for increased scrutiny from both the Justice Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission, according to people familiar with the company's strategy.

6. I would be very surprised if this went any further than an investigation.
They might release a report stating errors were made and criminal activity occurred but no one will be prosecuted or held accountable for their actions.

7. Oh please
Here's what will happen...

Justice Dept. will serve subpoenas to News Corp. asking for company info.

News Corp will say "no, go away."

Justice Dept. will apologize for the inconvenience and wish them well.

10. What a Ridiculous Article
The Justice Department is preparing subpoenas that have yet to be approved by the senior Justice leadership. If and when Holder approves the subpoenas, then there will be a long, ponderous investigation. Then the "senior Justice leadership" would have to approve prosecuting News Corp. And if they go that far, the "senior Justice leadership" would probably approve a slap on the wrist deal.

Meanwhile, the number one priority of the "senior Justice leadership" is going after medical marijuana clinics. Their number one concern is that some chemotherapy patient would feel better after smoking a joint.

11. Ha! I laugh at this funny joke called "Justi$e Dept." (Dept. short for Depot)).
Edited on Fri Jul-22-11 09:17 AM by ooglymoogly
that only brings the full weight of trumped up "law" down on "little people" for victimless "crimes" to fill corp-prisons. "Crimes" that might pose even the smallest threat to drug corporations, banksters and corpworld, the real drug cartels and the real criminals.

Good ol' boys robbing and pillaging trillions, and the good ol' boys that protect them, (fux and the rest of corp world and corpmedia) need not worry.

It is becoming ever more clear that even jolly old England has far more integrity than the Machiavellian thugs with absolutely no moral compass, who have stolen our government and all its resources and robbed the people of this country blind deaf and dumb.
