Bali Island, Indonesia - US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton on Sunday urged Indonesia to increase trade with the United States.
Clinton said Indonesia's trade with the United States lagged behind other countries in the region, despite its status as South-East Asia's largest economy with 240 million people.
'Our trade this year with Indonesia was 20 billion dollars, but our trade with Malaysia was 40 billion dollars,' she said at a meeting with Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa on the resort island of Bali.
'So we want to look at what are the impediments and potential barriers and how do we create more dynamic trade and investment between Indonesia and the United States,' she said.
