At U.N., U.S. seeks more troops for Iraq

UNITED NATIONS, April 16 (UPI) -- The U.S. ambassador, speaking before the U.N. Security Council Friday, called on members of the United Nations to contribute troops for a new multinational force dedicated to protecting the world organization in Iraq.

Talking to reporters outside the council chamber, John Negroponte later referred all questions about reports he would become the new U.S. ambassador to Iraq to the White House.

Shortly after Negroponte's plea for troops, Washington's top partner in the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq, Britain, presented members of the panel with five elements to be contained in a new council draft resolution covering the handover of power June 30 and the interim government expected to accept it.

Members of the council said Ambassador Emyr Jones Perry of Britain presented five areas for consideration, but did not put them in writing.

1. Am I the only one who thinks this was to be the plan after all?
That the arrogant Bush knows he rules the UN and can manipulate it to his desire--even though he is a fascist pig?

It will go down--the UN will comply. Bush knew this, Bush assumed and he was right, that he could invade and do what he wanted , bullying the UN and in the end he would rule over the UN.

The same way that Israel has ignored the UN.

The UN, although consisting of many admirable diplomats, is under the thumb of the US. That an evil man couped the democratic process in the United States, and intends to bully the rest of the world, with or without the approval or debate in the UN, is obvious.

An evil man has insulted the UN. An evil man who happens to be a fascist insane person who has couped his presidency, was not elected, has committed war crimes by his horrific invasion on lies of Iraq, rules the UN , is indeed a pathetic condition.

2. I think that the international community has had about enough...
of our arrogance. I fervently hope that the UN tells * to go to hell, after all, there are far smarter people in the UN than * ever dreamed of being, and they are not all US puppets.

6. Get a spine UN

Tell them to let the door hit them where the ...

What a sorry mess.
The UN should make GWB and the rest of the thugs stand up in front of the entire world and say... "We are sorry. We knew there were no WMD, we know that OBL is the one that we should have been looking for,we thought the shock and awe was going to work and we could steal all the oil but we were wrong!"

Then Annan should smile and tell them to twist in the wind and let OBL come and spit in their faces! Let every nation send a representative to spit on them.

By then it should be January and Kerry can cart them off to Jail.

5. I desperately want the UN to take over, and demand that the US
give up control of the lucrative contracts and behind the scenes deals, and give up the whole mess being run by US commanders.
My stake in the UN going in now, is I want Michael OUT of there.
I am tired of waiting for our Repub and Dem so called leadership to do a damned thing about bringing Bush to justice, and the son of a bitch should have been thrown out by now.
In the meantime, for gods sakes, get the UN in there and bring our kid home.

7. Why should mothers in other countries send THEIR sons to
go through what our soldiers are going through? This whole mess should be cleaned up PERSONALLY by Bush, Rumsfeld, Cheney, Powell, Rice, the US Congress (who acquiesced to this travesty) and their families. NOBODY in the entire world wanted to go to Iraq. The coalition of the willing was a coalition of the bought off. Iraqis do not particularly like the UN, you know.

8. Bottom line is the UN would need the US troops to stay in Iraq...
even if bush were to give over control which he won't. The UN already laid down the conditions in which they would go in and bush said no because it meant giving up control of Iraq's resources.

10. Bush must be humiliated,
The UN won't do anything to allow Bush to save face, after all he just spent the last two years pissing in theirs.

But, if the US was forced into a Vietnam style evacuation, the UN would have to intervein.

12. Problem is, the US won't put THEIR forces under the umbrella of the UN
.
.
.

The US wants to control their own forces, as well of the forces of their "coalition" (is it my imagination, or is "coalition" getting to be a BAD word?)

Personally, I hope Canada doesn't go NEAR Iraq unless the US is totally OUT, or puts its forces in Iraq under the United Nations supervision/command

And THAT's not gonna happen,

then the US would have to abide by some LAWS.

They are gonna firebomb Fallujah and/or Najaf before the UN gets in there,

AND

The UN is stipulating that a UN Force is not for the "occupation", just protection of its own workers/facilities.

From the article:

"With the support of the United Nations, the United States has begun to solicit force contributions for the protection of a broad-based U.N. mission whose role will be further defined by Security Council action," Negroponte said. He emphasized the force would be dedicated solely to providing security for U.N. personnel and facilities.

So,

don't expect any improvements soon

(sigh)
