Rupert Murdoch shirking responsibility over phone hacking, says police chief
Source: The Guardian

Sir Hugh Orde, the president of the Association of Chief Police Officers, has lambasted Rupert Murdoch, saying the chairman of News Corporation had shown a complete denial of responsibility for what had gone on in his company.

He contrasted Murdoch's behaviour with the leadership shown by Sir Paul Stephenson, the Metropolitan police commissioner who quit last week over his indirect links with former News of the World editors.

Orde is tipped as a possible replacement for Stephenson, and it is the second time in a few days that he has attacked the irresponsibility of News Corps.

Speaking on the BBC's Andrew Marr programme, Orde said "You saw the chief officer of the police service of this country, Sir Paul Stephenson, saying, 'Look this happened on my watch. I am responsible. I am therefore … It's on my watch. I am resigning.' Compare that to Rupert Murdoch – complete denial of any responsibility of his organisation."

1. That is because your laws don't apply to him
You see, you and Mr Stephenson are pissants in his world and not worthy of approaching his Majesty (humbled though he is by it all and all that)

2. Unless Murdoch ordered the wiretaps or approved of them
how is he any more culpable than President Obama in the failed gun running experiment in mexico?

I just don't see why everyone is jumping up and down over the actions of a few when there's little or no evidence that Murdoch knew anything about it

8. he directly profited by the nefarious and illegal deeds
done at those companies.

He gained by it - he now can lose by it.

9. Because Murdoch has REPEATEDLY bragged about being a "hands on"
micro-managing CEO and that he is intimately involved in the decisions made by his editors and staff. That's why.

In other words, the likelihood that he didn't know about the hacking is approximately NIL. The likelihood that he used some of the info gained from hacking to blackmail politicians... I'm gonna go with HIGH.

And BTW, will Murdoch be giving back all the money he made off of illegal actions? Hmmm?

11. perhaps son never talks to father about pressing business problems
for father's business. The evidence is starting to stack up pretty heavily against James. It is the coverup and attempts to corruptly influence to make problems go away that seem to be the problem.

19. Murdock is the typical punk
he takes pride in not taking any responsibility. What a piece of excrement that dude is. methinks he is headed for some mighty rocky roads ahead. Well deserved I might add.
