News Corp's James Murdoch under pressure over hacking testimony

By Tim Castle – Sun Jul 24, 10:47 pm ET

LONDON (Reuters) – News Corp executive James Murdoch was under pressure on Monday over his handling of a phone-hacking scandal that has hit the Murdoch family's media empire and could jeopardize his own position at the company.

British police are considering a request from opposition Labor politician Tom Watson to investigate claims the 38-year-old son of News Corp head Rupert Murdoch gave "mistaken" testimony to a high profile hearing in parliament last week.

Separately Labor lawmaker Chris Bryant has written to News Corp's independent directors calling on them to suspend both James and his 80-year-old father for failing to exercise proper corporate control.

I've just changed the link to the Chicago Tribune one because apparently this Reuters link wasn't working for some...

http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/07/25/newscorp-idUSL6E7IO0HT20110725axJWyDQ&usg=AFQjCNFVg7WVVCUX6rqUS33wryvo0VF3Cg

FWIW The Chicago Tribune time stamp for the article is: 6:12 a.m. CDT, July 25, 2011

1. Link doesn't work
Edited on Mon Jul-25-11 06:21 AM by dipsydoodle
But this one does : http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/07/25/newscorp-idUSL6E7IO0HT20110725

Aside from that if the article is dated stamped Sun Jul 24, 10:47 pm ET which is 5.47pm BST, late Sunday afternoon here in the UK. and it refers to a Monday then presumably that's Monday of last week in which case is this an editorial ?

2. It is 7:35 AM EST Monday July 25 now
So the article is well within the 12 hour time limit. BTW EST is 5 hours behind BST, not ahead of it.

3. I wasn't quering the time limit

Just that I couldn't , as I mentioned , grasp how anything date stamped Sun Jul 24, 10:47 pm ET could refer to the following day here in the UK. At best it is merely a recap of events from last week.

Your second link don't work either. Mine clearly show the date stamp as does your own original post as being Sun Jul 24, 10:47 pm ET. Indeed - yes I subbtracted in error. Still meant early hours of the morning here when little if anything would've been happening on this subject.

5. You've got a problem...
Edited on Mon Jul-25-11 06:58 AM by Turborama
with your internet connection, because the Chicago Tribune one works fine.

As to what you couldn't grasp, the article was written/posted by a Reuters reporter in the UK at 3:47AM BST MONDAY July 25 - which is 5 hours AHEAD of 10:35PM EST SUNDAY July 24.

BTW "LONDON (Reuters)" at the beginning of the article is a bit of a clue.

Hope that helps you grasp it.
