Ohio issue against federal health care measure will go on fall ballot
Source: The Plain Dealer

A proposed constitutional amendment in opposition to the federal health care law will be on the Nov. 8 ballot, Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted announced this morning.

The ballot issue is the second statewide issue petitioners have put on the fall ballot. Last week, Husted, a Republican, certified enough signatures to put before voters a referendum on Ohio's new collective bargaining law, Senate Bill 5.

The health care ballot issue could play a role in the outcome of the SB 5 referendum, as it is expected to drive up voter turnout among more conservative voters who would favor upholding the collective bargaining law.

The proposed amendment is intended to preserve Ohioans' right to choose their health care. But some legal experts have said the amendment would not override Ohioans' responsibility to comply with federal law.

9. Perhaps, by even more than that...
Then again, the liberals on the court ruled for the corporations and against the People in Kelo, so anything is possible.

2. "A coalition of Tea Party and constitutional rights activists submitted more than 546,000 petition
to Husted's office earlier this month in an effort to block a requirement in President Barack Obama's national health care law, the Affordable Care Act, that almost everyone have health insurance."

"ProgressOhio, a liberal activist group, said on Tuesday that its volunteers have been reviewing petitions and have discovered many errors. The group plans to challenge thousands of the signatures before an Aug. 5 deadline in a complaint to the Ohio Supreme Court. Brian Rothenberg, executive director of ProgressOhio, said it is inexplicable why supporters of the proposed amendment want to abolish a law that promotes access to affordable health care.

Tea Party activists and other critics say the law gives the government too much control over health care and takes away individuals' choice of how and when to have insurance.

The White House and Democrats say it will result in the overwhelming majority of Americans having health coverage. But Republicans say the bill's fee structure will cause employers to drop coverage, leaving employees on their own to get insurance through the new state-based marketplaces, or health care exchanges. 5. first things first...
If they are gonna have a vote they need to purge the voting rolls of progressives, demand driver's license photo IDs, and then close all the state DMVs.

The fascists in Ohio are asleep at the wheel. :sarcasm:
