Elizabeth Warren to leave consumer financial agency
(Reuters) - Elizabeth Warren, the law professor who persuaded the Obama administration to create the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, will step down on August 1 from her role setting up the controversial new regulator, the Treasury said on Tuesday.

Warren will return to Harvard Law School and will be succeeded by a close aide and former banker, Rajeev Date.

The agency officially opened its doors for business on July 21 but still does not have a confirmed leader.
..................

Warren had been setting up the agency as a special advisor to Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner. Date will now assume that role and run the bureau's day to day operations, the Treasury Department said.

3. Raj Date was another of her hand picked leaders
I trust her judgment.

Here he is talking about staffing the agency: http://www.youtube.com/cfpbvideo#p/u/6/aQJNj1nWX2Y

18. How do you know she was responsible for choosing Date, rather than, say, Timmeh, or someone else
in the Administration?

Anyway, regardless of who chose him, his bio is not very appealing.

With Republicans getting more and more crazy, we need to take back Ted Kennedy's seat.

14. Bad for ordinary Americans. Good for Geithner and Wall Street.
Also bad for Obama, but he doesn't realize just how bad yet.

19. Rajeev Date's bio does not inspire trust.
http://znmoment.amplify.com/2010/10/26/rajeev-v-date-adviser-to-consumer-agency-had-a-role-in-lending/

Note: the alleged conflicts this article cites about Warren are small in dollar amount and also relate to her being a consumer advocate, so they are not actually conflicts with her role in heading a consumer protection agency. Date on the other hand.....)
