CONGRESSIONAL BLACK CAUCUS CHAIR: WE WILL ONLY SUPPORT A CLEAN DEBT CEILING VOTE
Source: Think Progress

CONGRESSIONAL BLACK CAUCUS CHAIR: WE WILL ONLY SUPPORT A CLEAN DEBT CEILING VOTE | During a radio interview today, Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO), the Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, said the over 40 members of the CBC will be voting ‘no’ on any plan that cuts government services — including the plan put forward by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV). Cleaver says the caucus insists on a clean vote to raise the debt ceiling — the same kind of vote “we’ve done repeatedly since 1917.” Cleaver explained, “we can deal with the deficit questions later, but let’s not send the most powerful nation on the planet into default.” Rep. Allen West (R-FL), the one Republican member of the CBC, has said he will support Speaker Boehner’s (R-OH) plan.

going on about Obama. They know he looks down on them with nothing but contempt now that he's moved out of the neighborhood.

34. Thank you for the info.

That's him.

From Wikipedia:

SNIP

Scott is not a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, because he claims it's not important to put emphasis on race, as he considers himself "American", and not "African American"

30. Well, since the Black Caucus is a minority of House Democrats and Democrats are in the minority in
the House, this is not much of a threat.

But, it's nice to hear, I guess.

Would they be doing the same if the votes of members of the Black Caucus would actually decide the fate of the deal, one way or the other? We'll never know for sure, but how did members of the Black Caucus vote on the Obama tax cuts when Democrats still held the House?

I am so tired of D.C. kabuki.

35. The Tea Party is a minority of the GOP representation
Yet they have their party by the balls.

There are only 60 members of the Tea Party Caucus.

There are 41 members of the Congressional Black Caucus.

There are 83 members of the Progressive Caucus.

This should have never been an issue until Boehners House. Let's remember to push the message, this is all on the Repugs no matter how it is spun. I want to see ads pointing out that Boehner went to Rush to present him the plan.

We should have been pushing for ONLY the clean debt ceiling vote all along, but when given the chance half of the House Democrats voted against it.
