Budget cuts mean shorter public hours at Social Security offices |

Source: Salt Lake Tribune Social Security offices nationwide will close to the public 30 minutes earlier each day because of federal budget limitations. The new hours begin Aug. 15. Offices usually open to the public Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. will close daily at 3:30 p.m. Read more: http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/news/52271514-78/budget-public-security-social.html.csp

Agency employees will continue to work their regular hours, and still provide face-to-face service but without incurring the cost of overtime, Astrue said in a statement.
The budget cut “makes it impossible for us to provide the amount of overtime needed to handle service to the public as we have in the past,” he said."
