Ex-wife: Ill. congressman owes $117K child support

Source: Associated Press

CHICAGO – Illinois Rep. Joe Walsh, the tea party-backed Republican who squeaked into office last year by vowing to bring fiscal responsibility to Washington and who has been one of President Barack Obama's most outspoken critics during the standoff over the debt ceiling, is being sued for more than $100,000 in unpaid child support, a newspaper

The congressman's alleged financial problems made headlines while he was campaigning last year, when at least one staffer claimed he would "spend, spend, spend uncontrollably." His campaign manager quit and sued for $20,000 in nonpayment, and two other staffers who quit accused him of not properly disclosing a 2008 home foreclosure and traffic citations to the public, taking their grievances public. Walsh also bounced checks, including one to a Republican fundraiser.

"President Obama, quit lying," he said in a video posted online this month. In it he also asks Obama, "Have you no shame, sir?"

4. You don't understand...we have a two tiered Justice system
He is on Tier 1, we are on Tier II. Tier II people get a arrested for this. Tier I people get an interest free bank loan from a bankster and pay it off.

2. 'being sued for' != 'owes'
Once the suit is over with, he may or may not owe that amount or some other. No love lost for the clown in question, but the presentation of this story is misleading. Unless we assume that everyone currently being sued for some amount of money actually owes that amount.

3. This is about as low as a dad can go. Hopefully, Illinois
will enforce their Deadbeat Dad law and put his ass in jail until he makes good on his responsibilities.

6. Joe sez this is a good thing
I just saw him on TV (Fox or MSNBC, channel surfing). He was asked about the debt. He said this shows that he is more in touch with the average american than Sen McCain is. So wriggling out from child support is a "Real American" trait.

Who knew?

8. Wow
That's quite some rationalization. I somehow doubt this Joe Walsh twit is unable to pay his child support. He just doesn't want to.

The US wants to pay it's debts. It soon won't have enough money to do so.

Usually if a parent can't afford a particular child support order due to loss of job or cut in pay it can be renegotiated through the courts. Not so with the US.

Joe Walsh is a douche. I wish he would be arrested for failure to pay child support.

9. Well, that explains it then
Why raise the debt ceiling and pay your bills? He didn't pay his and look what happened - he got elected to Congress!

(He did get his driver's license suspended though, but that's okay. He just drove anyway.)
