1. Glad to hear it.
Because Chuck Todd predicted Dems would try to revise it. It didn't sound right and it wasn't. http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/07/28/7187100-first-thoughts-in-retreat

18. Actually, Todd could still be right
From what I'm reading, after the measure fails in the Senate, Reid can strip it entirely and put in his plan, pass the vote and send it back to the House. If I'm getting this wrong, someone please correct me.

20. That might make him technically right
But it still sounds wrong. Does that mean they could then reconcile the bills?

23. Again - this is what I'm reading online
He wont have to reconcile the bills if the House passes the "Reid" bill coming from the senate. Since it seems the only real difference is one covers a longer length of time, they'll have a hard time explaining why they wont vote for it. But to do that would take titanium balls.

27. "If the House passes the Reid bill" is a very huge if
Edited on Fri Jul-29-11 09:08 AM by karynnj
My guess is the assumption that most (all) Democrats would vote yes with enough legally sane Republicans, who realize what a gain it really is for the Republicans and how bad default would be.

The fact is both Houses should have passed clean bills months ago - it is the republicans that opted to turn something that was must pass into an opportunity to hold the economy ransom to get everything they want.

2. I am glad they are still on track to defeat it.
Still hoping the "compromise" doesn't include cuts to the Big 3 or any comissions to do the same later.

4. I thought that the republicans promised when they took over
the House that they would give everyone 72 hours to read any bill they brought forward.....

I am glad they are letting everyone have enough time to really read and debate the bill

Essentially:

The White House hasn't provided a plan. FALSE.

The Senate hasn't provided a plan. (It's coming out later today).

The Senate is uncooperative. FALSE.

It'll be on the Dems. heads if the limit is reached without a deal because Repubs. gave them a deal. FALSE (But they will keep trying to spin it that way).

The American people are fed up with the Dems. dragging their feet. FALSE.

The bill is a "compromise". FALSE.

Shame on Obama for not cooperating. FALSE.

We're the adults here. UBER FALSE.
