Fox Business News' Cavuto Says US Credit Downgrade "Welcome"
ForbesBy Kenneth Rapoza | Forbes – 9 hrs ago

Fox News' vice president of business news, Neil Cavuto, said during the July 27 broadcast of "Your World" that a US credit downgrade would be a good thing.

"I would welcome a downgrade. I think that will be the pain that will wake people up," Cavuto said during a one-on-one interview with Fox commentator John Stossel. Earlier in the interview, Stossel said that a downgrade would not be good for the US economy.

3. You shouldn't really "WTF" this. It's Cavuto. And face facts, he's just a hateful partisan ASShole
I pretty much expect this sort of stupidity from that spectacled blob of dogshit at this point. I mean, it's not like a crash in the US economy means Neil Cavuto sells his mansion or eats dog food or anything. He'll be just fine.

Kind of the same logic of regressives wanting another terrorist attack to break "dem lib'ruls" out of their complacency. Amazing.

Just another member of the crew of regressives that hate this president and hate the Democratic party more than they love this country.

Let's follow the money on this one.

Somebody's gotta stand to make a killing.

Lenders?

Who wins when the dollar tanks?

26. Beck does us a favor
Adolf Beck does us a favor. He keeps his sheep buying overpriced precious metals - frequently it is sold at 3 to 5 times what you could get the exact same thing on Ebay for. Then his anti-American, hate-filled acolytes have less money to give to their other hate-filled idols like Grifter Grizzly, In-The-Closet-Perry/Graham/Mr.Bachmann/etc, and all the rest of the America-haters.

18. Anyone lending money would be better off if the prime rate went up
Anyone borrowing money would be worse off. It's basically artificial deflation. (Debtors love inflation / low interest rates; creditors love deflation / high interest rates). In a debt heavy economy high rates and deflation are the same thing, since the result is to suck liquidity out of the economy.

43. Yes, interest rates generally will rise, so lenders will benefit.
Edited on Sun Jul-31-11 01:23 PM by plumbob
Holders of Treasuries will also benefit as their older low interest notes mature and are traded for higher interest ones.

Anyone who collects interest will win. Anyone who pays will lose.

The usual "panic" buys will win for a while - gold, survival stuff.

Eric Cantor will win millions, along with everyone else who has dollars short.

"Stupid is as stupid does"...Cavuto is a moron.

It is not "the people" that need waking up but the pundits and Republicans/Teabaggers like him that need to wake up. The numbers don't lie---tax cuts don't create jobs or increase federal revenues, they rob from both. But still, they use that line every day despite being disproven as a myth. Even George HW Bush called this theory "Voodoo Economics".

Wake up, Cavuto, your ignorance and political bias is showing.

11. That's easy to understand....

"the pain that will wake people up"

In other words:

Not enough people agree with me. Therefore, they need to feel pain until they do.

Very simple.

Having the Trust Fund buy up bonds for the past three decades made borrowing cheaper -- conservatives really hated that.

25. I agree completely with him.
Too many people are quick to hate ANYTHING said by people on the other side of the aisle. Democrats should win EVERY SINGLE election, but don't because we have such a large apathetic, lazy population. Hopefully, seeing a SMALL taste of where we are heading without raising additional revenues would wake them up and get them to participate in saving our country.

30. Another Great Depression would wake people up, to the assraping the top 1% have been doing
To the other 99% of us all these years.

Look back to the 1930's. What did we as a nation do after that wake-up call? We enacted social programs and initiated intense government spending to help the less fortunate and most in need. I have a feeling that another Great Depression would end very poorly for those on the top, when the rest of us below are suffering so much.

So, Mr. Cavuto may be right, but not how he thinks he is.

as the last one, but people are out of work for two and three years, some more, especially those who lost jobs at age 45 or 50.

If we're in "recovety," I'd rather be ill.

And the number of completely inane stupid comments he can make in Act II "The Wrath of Con".

Sort of like the Star Trek movie sequel, except more obtuse with even hammier acting by Cavuto than Shatner.
