U.S. Marines face tough times in postwar Iraq |
|
by Ron Harris. http://www.menafn.com/qn_news_story.asp?StoryId=Cqih9qeicvvnjuKfrlu1buKLorvm CAMP AL QAIM, Iraq _ Lt. Jason Johnston couldn't hold back his frustration.
"I don't think the American people understand that this is full-blown guerrilla warfare," he said as he stood inside one of the cramped barracks housing scores of Marines in this remote outpost.
"This is the real war. Last year was a cakewalk."
It's a longish piece, well worth reading.

We did all learn something from Viet Nam, something the RW politicized military can't get over yet, the military defeat of the US even though we won every battle there, it was a war of national liberation to the Vietnamese people, just like Iraqis are linking up now along nationalist lines-it's time to come home from full-blown guerrilla war for sovereign Iraq in post-Saddam Iraq, Lt.

6. My thought exactly when I read the headline. |
|
I wish the media would think before they use trite phrases like these. After a year now, we can look back and see how wrong the spin was. Remember, "they're just a handful of Sadaam loyalists". That's one. Remember, "remnants of the Baath regime." That's another. Remember, "the world is safer now". I could go on. Most of the time I just love it when I'm right and the majority of the people are wrong, but this is one time where I can't even gloat about being right about marching in Washington prior to this illegal invasion and protesting this administration.

7. It reminded me of Chronicle of a Death Foretold |
|
Because the first witness contradicted the headline. So which is it really?

8. "I can't think of any mistakes" said Shrub at his news conference |
|
Poor Lt Johnson is now paying for shrub's mistake-I add to the great comments here only to say-we can't even calculate the damage to our military that this war has inflicted-we are much weaker in terms of men, morale and equipment-but hey nothing that afew tax cuts can't solve-Bush is destroying our country at a quick pace-this is so damn sad
