Bush to be in NYC to mark 10th anniversary of 9/11
Source: Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) — The ceremony at the World Trade Center site marking the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks will be a solemn but stately event that will include former President George W. Bush and a chance for victims' families to view the names of loved ones etched into the memorial, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said.

President Barack Obama and Bloomberg will be joined by the leaders in charge during the 2001 attacks, including Bush, former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and former New York Gov. George Pataki. Current New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will also be there, he said.

Speaking on his weekly radio show Friday on WOR-AM, Bloomberg said the lawmakers will read short poems or quotes. No speeches will be given.

"This cannot be political," he said. "So that's why there's a poem or a quote or something that each of the readers will read. No speeches whatsoever. That's not an appropriate thing."

1. Bush should read the poem about the man from Nantucket
Then he should make some fart noises with his armpit, and stumble around Ground Zero saying things like "Now, WHERE are them weapons 'a mass destruction? Are they under HERE?"

After that, he should go the hell back to Texas.

Of course, a better idea would be to stay in Texas and let New York have its moment.

But that won't happen.

6. Now I'm going to have to find that man from Nantucket poem, I know what
the rhyme must be!

Yes, perhaps Bush can just stay in his hole in the wall, and remain so immune from any responsibility in his life. I still want him to go to Europe sometime and be arrested for war crimes.

He'll go on and on about Hussein having been the most evil leader in the world.

How many Americans neglected to consider their own circumstances at the time?

10. His greatest triumph.
That's not a MiHOP statement, btw. This writer summed it up pretty well:
In my mind, however, the most egregious Bush gaffe regarding 9/11 is the most insulting. Those of you who lost friends or family on that day must be able to see that this president has never apologized, has never admitted error, has never taken responsibility for what happened to your loved ones. He has, in fact, used 9/11 as a plank in his platform, as if that horrible day was his greatest triumph. His strategy is to claim that his leadership was strongest at a time where thousands died because of his lack of it. Isn't this despicable enough not to vote for him? Can people not see this?

16. Will George AWOL Bush's intimate Saudi cronies be joining him in NYC?
Edited on Sat Jul-30-11 01:34 PM by SpiralHawk
Or would that make it too obvious that virtually ALL the 9/11 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia (R), and not one from Iraq or Afghanistan...

I suppose that would be, um, inconvenient...

23. But the 9-11 survivors will not be allowed to be there.
No Room for 9/11 Survivors at 10th Anniversary Ceremony, City Says

LOWER MANHATTAN — Survivors who fled the flaming World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001 will not be allowed to attend the city's annual commemoration ceremony at Ground Zero this year, DNAinfo has learned.

The mayor's office, which runs the ceremony, informed the World Trade Center Survivors' Network last week that there will be no room for them at this year's 10th anniversary ceremony, which will be held for the first time at the newly built 9/11 memorial, the city said.

Plenty of room for Bush and his henchmen, tho.

29. That idea needs to go viral
How that evil bastard can even show his smarmy face there, of all places, is beyond me. Maybe he wants to remind us again how he kept us 'safe'. Yeah, right. Tell that to the survivors and families of the victims.

33. That's a great idea
Maybe we could spread the word on facebook too, and launch a grassroots effort. No way can Bush get away with being part of the 9/11 events. His administration's incompetence made the whole thing possible by ignoring the PDB that said "Bin Laden determined to attack within the US".

That guy needs to be shamed and shouted down wherever he rears his pointed little head. Bush lied, people died. Game on.

I do not have one.
And am barely twitter literate.
But maybe someone here would be willing to start the ball rolling closer to the date of the event.

37. At the time of 911 and shortly after, many First Responders loved Dummya and Giuliani.
Edited on Sun Jul-31-11 12:59 AM by No Elephants
And then, people started lying about whether 911 clean up was dangerous. Hillary told the truth.

The also learned about Giuliani's having put the kibosh on a communications system for First Responders that could have saved many lives on 911 got publicized. Also publicized, Giuliani's putting the Emergency Response Center in the WTC, though he had been warned the WTC was still a prime terrorist target and the Center should be located somewhere safe.

In 2007, firefighters invited Republican and Democratic candidates to a political forum. The only one not invited? Former hero of theirs, Rudy Giuliani.

They also ran into opposition getting their health care paid for. Liberals espoused their health care cause, Jon Stewart perhaps being the most persistent celebrity so doing.

Then, Congress FINALLY voted to help with health care, but not cover their cancer. Hello?

I don't know who they will cheeer on 911.

But no room for survivors at the tenth anniversary observance? Not even one? Wow.
