Guerrilla Warfare Worries U.S. Military
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040418/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iraq_campaign_of_fear&cid=540&ncid=1473

BAGHDAD, Iraq - With videos of kidnapped civilians and leaflets threatening violence, one top U.S. military officer said insurgents were operating a brilliant campaign of fear that experts said was meant to drain international workers from Iraq (news - web sites) and isolate the U.S. military and its allies.

Guerrilla "masters of intimidation" are also successfully countering the U.S. military's own psychological campaign.

One of the most demoralizing weapons in the campaign has been the release and broadcast of four videotapes of hostages, one of whom was filmed during his execution.

Insurgents have also issued a burst of fliers and statements warning Iraqis against cooperating with the U.S.-led occupation. The U.S. military used similar fliers and warnings to intimidate the Iraqi army during the war.

3. And, don't forget the military lost from OTHER countries?
.
.
.

The total (reported) is over 800, with 12 reported just for the 17th of April alone.

And I believe that these reports may not be even the real total. . .

Are we safer now?

(sigh)

5. The breaking point is upon us
I am also very concerned about the reality of this bloody mess.
I'm concerned more for what we are NOT being told.

16. Omigosh. Thanks for the reminder. It's so easy to accept their terms.....
Yes, it WOULD seem they are P.O.W.'s.

The substitution of other, more loaded words for situations that favor manipulation of perception ALWAYS happens now, it seems.

It's been so subtle all these years it's almost like stopping a freight train to discipline oneself to stop and recognize what we're really hearing and reading, after all.

Consciousness can be important! Thanks a lot.

6. Of course if you have dead and wounded
...in your family at American hands, you will be receptive to propaganda. Of if foreign troops have broken into your home and terrified your family, you won't have such a good opinion of invading foreign troops either.

This intimidation of Iraqis who tried to work in the Interim Government or for foreign contractors has been going on from the very beginning. This was the key to the resistance strategy from the outset. Has it really taken a year to recognize this?

When Biden spoke before the CSIS the other day (televized on CSPAN) he stated that 300,000 troops were needed for 5 years or more.

In my opinion, the fundamentally flawed policy cannot be remedied by any number of American troops. The best you could hope for would be something like Palestine or Lebanon, where people were being bombed, murdered or assassinated on a regular basis. Iraq would have to be so locked down, commerce would be impaired and democracy a joke. Of course Iraqis who are committed to American ejection would be ready to bring the war to us here at home. Are Americans ready for this?

7. for christ's sake
the US military was ordering Iraqis to GUN each other down.. when they refused they were shot at..

this looks a lot like the Brits in India as well..

Where's Gandi or an Einstein when we need them? Even a fake Jesus would work temporarily..

they are even admitting that their psyops only works against complacent or idiotic americans.

this is genocide, pure and simple. These are war crimes.

the media is complicit.

I saw on ABC affiliate: Rebels agree to release Maupin in exchange for '1' Iraqi fighter being held by US soldiers.

I'm no commander, no soldier, no politician... but even if a war is going on this seems to me INSANE not to accept this. They're not even asking for millions of dollars, more guns, food, tranportation... BUSH IS INSANE, BUSH IS INSANE!

Tell me what would happen if this was Limbaugh, Delay, Hastert, Lott, Gingrich, Cheney's child being held! ALL REPUBLICANS ARE DIRTY SHIT! THE AMERICAN MEDIA IS DIRTY SHIT FOR ALLOWING BUSH TO BE PORTRAYED AS INTELLIGENT!
