Mortician debunks Bush rumor
FUNERAL HOME near Crawford wants to lay to rest a tall tale about President Bush.

The story maintains that Bush paid the funeral expenses for a 6-year-old boy who drowned recently in a stock pond near the presidential ranch.

While Secret Service agents and a Black Hawk helicopter did help in the rescue effort, the president did not pay for the funeral, said Keith Allison, funeral director at the Gatesville Funeral Home in Gatesville, about 20 miles from Crawford.

The Associated Press reported that the boy fell into the pond about two miles from the ranch on March 6. Secret Service agents and state troopers searched before Secret Service divers recovered him and he was flown to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

2. If only Dubya had been around that day!
He would have raised him from the dead, cured a couple of lepers just to keep himself sharp, and then fed all the multitude of Mexican day laborers from just five Doritos and a Snickers bar.

thinking it will soften his image.

4. conversions too
some freepers also started a rumor that Bush was witnessing to gang members and converting them to Christianity,

Yeah, I am sure the Secret Service is going to let Bush wander around the slums of Washington to visit gangs with Ak-47's

5. However, he DID save his little brother
from drowning after he fell through the ice when skating, and even suffered a little bit of a hearing loss because of it and later on when he was the manager of the Crawford bank he lost the deposits one day but because of all the good things he had done for Crawford the whole town turned out for him and saved the bank.

And that's why every time he chokes on a pretzel, a neocon gets his wings.

eileen from OH (wrong season, I know, but wtf)

12. Eileen,
"And that's why every time he chokes on a pretzel, a neocon gets his wings."

I read it five minutes ago and i'm still laughing.

I guess that hearing loss kept him out of 'Nam.

13. I was sent the rumor-email and started investigating it myself
Edited on Mon Apr-19-04 08:25 AM by Ilsa
a few weeks ago. I called the local newspaper about this and was told essentially this story plus something else not in the article: The family is really upset that their child's death is being manipulated like this in the emails. Not only do they have to deal with their grief, but their son's death is being upstaged by George Bush's rumor mill.
