BLAIR EU-TURN - Blair to resign?
PM tipped to resign on a high if victorious after referendum

By Bob Roberts, Political Correspondent

TONY Blair will quit in triumph if he wins a planned new European referendum, senior allies claimed last night.

In one of his biggest U-turns, Mr Blair is tipped to back a vote on the European constitution at a cabinet meeting on Thursday.

The poll is expected to take place within a year of the general election.

And close colleagues of Mr Blair said yesterday a victory in the vote would be the chance for the Prime Minister to quit No10 with dignity.

One minister said: "He is not going to hang around and suffer the same fate as Margaret Thatcher. His main concern is that he should go at a time of his choosing." A former minister added: "Going out at the top is a rare achievement for anybody."

2. brits are ridiculously attached to the notion of "british sovereignty".
I bet "No" votes trounce the "yes" ones, especially if Blair is selling all of the reasons, given his credibility. Euro mini nations have to let go of thinking they have independent countries in order to compete with the other heavyweights.

3. Hahahahahahaha!
TONY Blair will quit in triumph if he wins a planned new European referendum, senior allies claimed last night.

Only problem is, it is very difficult indeed to see how he can win a referendum on this matter. Everything would suggest that the Euro-sceptics would romp home easily in such a referendum, which is why they have been calling for it for yonks.

I suspect they are up to something, but I'll take the referendum either way, even if I think that the whole of the EU public should be having a poll on this issue and not just us. :-)

4. However he quits or is overthrown, I will be pleased.
This guy has got to go. Labor will be destroyed forever if his foul influence isn't eradicated.
